Security Issues in Cyberspace

It is held by many people today that the World seems to be a small global village because of internet and use of ICT and computers. There are many different issues and cases in Information and Communication Technology as well as in other fields that need proper analysis leading to correct decisions for solutions. Because of the brevity of the assignment, I would like to talk about security in cyberspace to deal with hacktivism and hacker ethics. Security in cyberspace or computer laboratory nowadays is risen an issue that needs solutions among computer users who always like to interact with computers. As these users come to this type of environment, they bring with them different actions or behaviors that are different from one user to another. Ethics in such environment seeks to have correct answers to issues related to computer security. Thus, in this essay, the term hacker, hacker ethics and hacktivism are dealt with accordingly. What then is computer security? The following paragraph deals with this question.
Security is a word that comes from the verb to secure, which is to protect from harm. Security is meant of safety or protection to, for example, have activities involved in protecting a country, building or person against attack, danger [1]. Security is the state of feeling happy and safe from danger or worry [1]. Computer security is such a security that is considered to protect the computer system against attacks or harms. I refer computer system here to be comprised of hardware, software, data, and the user. Any attack or harm against the flow of data or information is to be defined as a computer security problem such as disruption of operations through viruses, worms and logic bombs along with unauthorized access [2]....

In my opinion, though some people can count hacktivism to be a good technique when carrying the least harm theory for doing good [6] like in the case of security in army and the government against any attacks, I don’t encourage it at all but I prefer that we all should learn to protect our data and leave the habits of hacking. It is better to do good to one another (cf. Principle of beneficence) without any attack or harm in our ways of informing and communicating while using the developing technologies to secure one another. Cyberspace is not to be a place of having use of means of damaging others’ data with attacks but a place to be secured for better communication. Sometimes, it may be difficult to say if it is good ethics to least harm for doing the most good, but it could be better to continue doing the most good for overcoming evil into the World [6].
