Scott Pilgrim vs the World Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a action and adventure/Comedy movie, based off of the comic book by Bryan Lee O’Malley, with a little bit of romance in the mix. It first came to theaters Aug 13, 2010. Directed by Edgar Wright, the man behind other comedies such as Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is a high school graduate who is jobless and lives in Toronto, Canada. Scott is 22 years old and is dating a highschooler named Knives Chau (Ellen Wong). Everything is all and well until Scott lays his eyes on the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). When you watch this movie you will experience a live action comic book. A movie critic by the name of Amy Nicholson said “A 112-minute entertainment contraption -- celluloid that shapeshifts its frames into video games, comic books and sitcoms”(Nicholson 1). These three things are put into the movie perfectly from health meters to fight being put on the screen like you are playing street fighter. Putting in words for sound effects like “thonk” or “bam” just as you would see in comic books. The effects are put in just perfectly, not to much and not to less. A movie critic by the name of Owen Gleiberman said “The first rock & roll kung fu videogame youth love story”(Gleiberman 1). Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a movie that is like no other. It brings a whole new kind of comedy. There is no other movie I would be able to compare. The movie in my eyes is one of the best movies I have seen. It has awesome fight scenes, great humor, and a interesting love affair. I could watch this movie over and over again. It's a movie that I would show as many people as I could about it. It's a comedy that I have never experienced
