What does Christianity, Catholicism, and Scarab Beetles all have in common? They all have worshipers! Superstitions have existed for thousands of years, with the Scarab Beetle being a prominent figure in it. Superstition is the belief in supernatural causality. Superstition comes in many forms from different religions and cultures with different talismans around the world. The particular superstitious item I chose was the Scarab Beetle, which has been constantly worshipped and admired throughout history.
The Scarab Beetle has been a popular superstitious object for thousands of years. It has been commonly used to symbolize life, self-creation, and rebirth. It has been in multiple religions, even as a god or an assistant to a god. People today might still worship it, but more commonly it is used as a lucky charm or spiritual symbol.
The scarab beetle has been in many histories, cultures, and religions over thousands of years. They were very prominent in Egyptian culture, a god even had the head of a scarab and scarabs were considered somewhat sacred. They were also minorly in Greek culture, but less prominent. It was sometimes believed to be an assistant of Apollo to help rebirth the sin everyday since it symbolizes life and rebirth. It was also a god and myths said it would help Apollo rebirth the sun every morning. The scarab is also carried or put in places of somewhat of a good luck charm, or just as artwork.This is shown well by the quote, "The winged scarab symbolized self-creation or rebirth." (Crystal 1). This quote just flat out says that people believed that the scarab symbolizes creation and rebirth. 'If the humble scarab and the glorious sun could be reborn from the ground..." (Cambefort 1).
