More specifically, Christmas Town, but the thing is he doesn't quite understand the concept. As far as I know no one wants flying dolls, snakes, or evil jack in the boxes. It’s a time for cheer, not tears. Next up is 2013’s animated movie Saving Santa. Santa use to operate in just a small workshop and with a few elves, but as Christmas has grown ever bigger; Santa has been forced to innovate! Now his cleverest elves develop amazing technology, including a hologram to hide the North Pole and a time machine to allow Santa to deliver presents to every home in the world, in just the one night. Bernard, an elf, dreams of creating such inventions, but his job is to clean the reindeer stables. Yet when he creates an amazing Christmas memory machine, his luck might be changing. But Bernard's invention is broken by a curious elf, causing the North Pole's power to fail and the hologram hiding it to disappear. Now exposed to the outside world, it is spotted by Santa's enemy, Neville Baddington, who is determined to steal Santa's secrets for himself. The only person who can stop him is the stable
Seuss, The Grinch is the main protagonist in this tale, but not much background is given on this green fellow. In the story, The Grinch is accompanied by his dog, Max, throughout most of the movie. Max acts as a sidekick that helps the Grinch, but is somewhat of an underdog. But puns aside, Max wasn’t treated the best by the Grinch in most of the movie. The Grinch made him pull an entire sleigh which held the Grinch and all of the Whos’ Christmas food, gifts, and decorations. While Max is pulling the sleigh, The Grinch is continuously yelling at him to make him move faster despite the extremely heavy weight on his shoulders, and expects him to carry all of it on his lonesome. To add onto that, The Grinch makes Max help, treating Max almost like a slave, which is extremely unethical and should never be done. But The Grinch doesn’t really even treat Max like a worker, Max just does what he’s told, and doesn’t get much out of the things he’s done for the
Dr. Seuss's original fable is a simple story told with a great moral that criticizes the commercialization of Christmas. The original story features an “Ebenezer Scrooge” type creature that lives up the mountains outside "Whoville." The Grinch indulges himself in the annual ritual of spoiling everyone's festivities with a series of nasty pranks. This particular year however he plans to sabotage the holiday season by dressing as Santa Claus, clim...
... Buddy the Elf brings them into his fantasy world as a real elf. In the book, we were able to see how people acted in real life situations during the holidays and how Sedaris used those situations to create his jokes. I felt more compassion or pity for Sedaris then for Buddy based on the reality factor. I would not want to work as an elf based on Sedaris’ experiences described in his writings and it is very difficult to try to relate to Buddy as the entire movie would never realistically happen. Both are humorous but as I described, both took different approaches of the same type of situation.

A Christmas Carol. Classics of Children's Literature. Ed. John W. Griffith and Charles H. Frey. 3rd ed.
Little did Ebenezer Scrooge know, this was going to be the kickoff to a substantial journey on his night of Christmas Eve. The ghost of Christmas past had the appearance similar to a child, yet it had some characteristics comparable to a lit candle. This ghost took Scrooge to all of his most painful memories leading up to his present day position. After brief reminders of these incidents, Scrooge started to get melancholy. Events from his schooldays, his engagement, and even his happy apprenticeship with his former boss Fezziwig provided enough insight for the main character to visit his childhood. Scrooge then got an unexpected visit from the ghost of Christmas Present. He took the display of a gigantic man, dressed in a green robe. This ghost helped provide an insight for Scrooge on what his acquaintances were doing on Christmas Eve night. Bob Cratchit, had a dinner with his family and could barely afford any food due to his low wage from Scrooge. Lastly, Ebenezer received a visitation from the ghost of Christmas yet to come. The ghost was strictly straightforward with Scrooge’s future if he kept acting similar to what he did. The three ghosts provided a prolonged climax to the story, giving Ebenezer a direct turning point in his actions and beliefs. He had adjusted to not making
As children, we grew up hearing stories of this “merry-go-lucky” guy who gave gifts to good boys and girls once a year. George Seaton’s “Miracle on 34th Street” (1947) is an old holiday classic about a Macy’s mall Santa who restores a little girl’s belief in the existence of Santa Claus. The film gave it’s viewers a feeling of happiness and hope. Kris Kringle is the typical happy Santa that grants miracles to those who believe in him. The Santa represented in “Miracle on 34th street” is a wholesome, jolly old man that just wants people to believe in him. Kris Kringle depicted in “Miracle on 34th street” is a man to look up to. This is the Santa many of us have grown to know and love.
The Ghost of Christmas Past took him to a place, where he loved to hang around when he was a young boy. Watching his past made him, sad. He wanted to go home, he couldn’t take it, “ Kind Spirit of Christmas Past, lead me where you will, but quickly! To be stagnant in this place is, for me, unbearable!” ( Dickens 12) After The Ghost of Christmas Past sent him home, The Ghost of Christmas Present arrived. He brings Ebenezer to the Cratchit's home. Ebenezer now sees that the family is happy, and thankful to him. He is confused, “Huh? Who’s that? Who calls? Me, Bob? You toast to me?” (Dickens, 23) The Ghost of Christmas Present reminds him that even though he gives Bob fifteen shillings a week, they still sing, and are grateful for what they have. (Dickens 23) The last place they visit is his nephew and niece’s home. They say how foolish it was that he did not accept their invitation to dinner on Christmas. Then all of a sudden The Ghost of Christmas Present disappeared and The Ghost of Christmas Future appeared, and does not talk, just shows him what his future will be if he does not change. He sees his gravestone and realizes that he is going to die alone, old, and sad. He decides to change and early the next morning when he finds out it is Christmas day, he runs around doing good deeds without anyone knowing who did
My experience with the Signing Santa project is an experience I will never forget. At first, I was not sure if I wanted to do it or if I could even do it. Especially hearing about this assignment in the first week of school. I was not sure if I would be able to communicate with anyone who was deaf because I knew little to no American Sign Language. But I am very proud to say my group’s station was one of the most or even the most popular station.
Meeting the Ghost of Christmas Past begins the first stage of Scrooge’s transformation: regretting his actions. When Scrooge is shown his younger self alone in his classroom on Christmas, he regrets chasing a Christmas caroler away from his door. The Spirit skips ahead a few years to show him a happier time. His sweet little sister Fan arrives to take him home, and this is his first Christmas in a long time that is spent with family. Unfortunately, Scrooge doesn’t see it that way; seeing this scene makes him “uneasy in his mind” as he thinks about the way he treats his nephew Fred. Instead of treating him like his only family member, Scrooge denies invitations to Christmas dinner every year and is rude whenever Fred speaks to him. He doesn’t have time to dwell on this for long, however; Scrooge has many other important things to think...
Elf starts out with the introduction to the life of Buddy, an orphaned baby, who would mistakenly crawl into Santa’s sack on Christmas Eve. Buddy would be raised on the North Pole but would soon realize that this wasn’t his place. Santa soon revealed that his true father was still alive, lived in the New York, and most importantly was on the naughty list.
Through extensive research and quoted material, this paper will display how the legend of Santa Claus has grown and developed through history to become a modern day icon of the Christmas holiday season.
Frosty the Snowman waves hello alongside Santa 's reindeer that are ready to take off. Candy canes line the sidewalk and the ginger bread dolls dance in a merry circle. The trees all sparkle with thousands of red, yellow, purple, blue, and orange lights. Out back, Mary and Joseph stand over baby Jesus, Choo-Choo train’s chug in spot, stars twinkle with bright yellow bulbs, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause wave in the distance. Kerkhoven, MN, the location of the happiest house on the block. Every year my breath is always taken away as my eyes struggle to soak in the utter abundance of Christmas spirit. I 'm smiling and we 're not even inside yet.

Anyway, back to Charlie Brown. Towards the end of the program, Linus, one of Charlie Brown's friends, makes a speech about the true meaning of Christmas. He talks about how Christmas isn't about who has the biggest tree or who wins first place in the ligh...
