Saving Private Ryan Inaccuracies

Paramount and DreamWorks Pictures joined together and produced an American war film in 1998 called Saving Private Ryan. The movie was about how Captain John Miller and his men go through extreme measures to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been killed in combat. The movie takes place during World War II after the allied invasion of Normandy. The men have to go through various enemy lines in search for Ryan and along the way each individual is exposed to the pure brutal reality of war. Surrounded by danger, death, and bloodshed the men manage to work together and are able to discover their own strengths in order to come out victorious in this barbaric war.
The movie was portraying the story of the Niland brothers who were 4 brothers that were all in the military during World War II. The movie was changed abundantly to have better box office appeals, so the film didn’t quite capture the whole story behind what really happened to the Niland brothers and how everything really happened. …show more content…

For example, the movie was during the invasion of Normandy which took place on the northern coast of France along the Omaha beaches. The movie was actually shot in Ireland in a place that resembled closest to what the Omaha beaches would look like. Sean Hutchinson stated that “France had strict filming restrictions” and that the film was filmed at the “Ballinesker Beach, Curracloe Strand in Wexford” proving that the location of the film was inaccurate. In another article called Saving Private Ryan- Eric and Anna the viewers were able to witness another inaccuracy throughout the movie where the characters wore part of their uniforms wrong. During most of the movie the “helmets straps were left unbuckled” which would be considered irrational because the soldiers knew it would be risky and very hazardous to have it like
