Recommended: Features of savanna grassland

The savanna, a tropical or subtropical grassland containing scattered trees and drought-resistant undergrowth taking up half of Africa and 20 percent of the world’s land . With many interesting things about the savanna the main features include:
Grassy ground layer and trees
The savanna biome is mostly made up of long and tall grass that will grow between 2 and 3 metres with a few trees
Wide variety of animals
In the savanna there is a wide variety of animals from predator to prey and there is always large herds’ of animals around.
Climate
In the savanna there are dry and colder seasons and the wet and hotter season. The wet season is during the summer and the dry season is during the winter.

Because predators think this, all zebra’s have a layer of fat which makes them look healthy and fit. They also have a thin fur coat which makes them all look the same so a predator can not pick out the weakest one. This fur coat does not just make them look the same but it also helps them stay cool in scorching, hot weather.
Alteration of the biome
People are using and altering the savanna biome in many different ways. This includes making savanna’s smaller and using the area for new industrializations. People are using the savanna for tourist attractions. As we, people are using the savannas’ for tourist attractions we are polluting the savanna’s all across the world.

The savanna biome has also been altered by us, human by living in this biome. The people of Africa use the Savanna by not just living there but also by letting their cattle feed off the plants of the savanna. The grass such as the elephant grass gets eaten and with no vegetation the Savanna will soon turn into a huge desert. Huge amounts of savanna’s around the world are deserting every year due to us human using it for living and for feeding cattle.
