My mom thinks I don't see her, but I do. I see the phone her hand. I see her typing on it. I see her checking the screen, then the road, then the screen again, surprised when she looks back up and the car is stopped in from of her, stepping, not exactly slamming, on the brakes, coming to a calm halt a few yards away from the car ahead of us. These are the moments, and even though they don't happen often, they still leave me on edge. My mother is the queen of multitasking. She can do a thousand things at once. It always amazes me how she can keep so many things going at the same time, not messing up on individual things, but one thing that I never like to see her do is text and drive. I used to not say anything. I used to watch her do it and assume because she's good at doing lots of things at once, she'd be fine doing this. Then I started seeing statistics. I started seeing it on the news. Some person here dies in an accident because of texting while driving. Some person there dies in an accident of texting while driving. It's scary. Even though I'm nearly 18 and don't drive, my mother still insists on reminding me, "You should never text while driving. As a matter of fact, don't even touch your phone". I nod and agree, but then I watch her do it seconds later. Recently, I decided to start speaking up. I've even taken the phone out of her hands before. She gets upset sometimes, but I don't care. I'd rather live and have dad be mad that we didn't get him a milkshake from Chick-fil-A too, than get in an accident and never get to see dad
