"Make a Change I took a deep breath in and was amazed by the freshness of the air. Gargantuan evergreen trees towered over me and a creek silently trickled beside me. I remember looking up in the cloudless sky and thinking how lucky I was. I finished a rigorous hike in Acadia National Park and was absolutely astounded by the beauty of this earth. A small breeze carried the crisp scent of nature up to my nose. Taking a deep breath in, I truly appreciated the simple beauty of this planet. Earth is not something you can recreate. With global warming on the rise, humans must do everything they can to preserve this planet. Global warming has taken planet earth by storm. Over 1 million animal species have gone extinct, and many more are predicted to follow. In the past century, temperatures have increased 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit due to humans’ high outpouring of greenhouse gases. This change has resulted in rising sea levels, which leads to habitat loss and climate change. This affects not only animals, but human beings, as well. If we don’t start an effort to save this plant, who knows how long it will last. Using fossil fuels is extremely dangerous to our environment, but there are plenty of ways one can reduce their fossil fuel intake. Carpooling with your friends to school, work, and just in general is a great choice to make. Not only would it improve the environment, but it would save money, too. Another great way to cut down on fossil fuels is to walk to get from place to place. Walking is an easy way to get an exercise in and is even proven to increase happiness.
