Satan Satan worship in being practiced more now throughout the world today than ever before. Satan is involved in today’s world, with temptations. People today openly worship the devil, or Satan. People who do this preform sacrifices, witchcraft, séances, and things such as that (DeHann 9). The origin of Satan is described in the Bible. The devil was originally created by God, as an angle. The devil was said to be the most beautiful beings. He also had favor with God. This is described in Ezekiel 28: 12-15 (KJV). Lucifer was Satan’s original name while he was in heaven. The name Lucifer means “the morning star”. The morning star appears before the dawn in heaven. Lucifer was the angel of light (DeHann 11). Satan, while he was in heaven, rebelled against God, bringing sin into existence. Although the Bible does not tell us why sin entered existence, Deuteronomy 29:29 says “secret things which belong unto the lord our God” (KJV). Witchcraft was used back in biblical times as well as it is today, in Bible times witches were like sorcerers that used magic to connect with the unseen world. The person who used magic or sorcery to try and talk with the dead were called “necromancers”. Another type is sign reading or telling the future. Looking at the entrails of different animals or looking at astronomical signs was considered to be wicked in the eyes of people back then. The Bible speaks these things in Deuteronomy 18: 10-12 (KJV). A witch in today’s medieval times was said to have traded her soul to the devil in order to have magic powers. Witches were seen to have put spells on animals and humans. In Europe there was around nine million “witches” put to death even if they were suspected of doing anything with witchcraft.
