For a long time, I was always interested in Police work or just wanted to be part of the team. Criminal Justice field is not the best paying job out there, but at the time I know it was interesting and it will be fulfilling to me. I always knew that the Criminal Justice Field is so big when it came down to occupation, so that IS why I had narrow down my decision to a SWAT Team division in a police force as an interest of occupation. The experience I had with a SWAT Team started last year from July to August. I spent a month with the Army 289th Military Police (Special Reaction Team) Company out of Washington D.C. However, there is a development of concerns that SWAT and SRT Team are misrepresented and overaggressive. SWAT Team effectiveness comes from their service of reporting to non-violent warrants offenders or conducting a raid on the information they received from higher. SWAT Team has the power to rush a house or a building without warning, frightening the residents or whoever it may be in the act of self-protection. I experience that there is the scenario in which SWAT or an SRT Team will conduct an assignment and it comes down to fear, assets destruction and death. Another major factor into an effected SWAT team is team building which is something I learned through my time with the 289th Military Police Company at Fort Myers. The importance of making a team work is the becoming more and more suitable in today’s self-motivating busy world. The importance of leadership in the Criminal Justice world is very high to keep their organization competitive and productive in this world of violence and threats. It is not easy to build an effected team, because putting a group of workers together is not the key to a successfully team. Therefore, I want to explain with my experience on how to have a successful team, which led into strong SWAT team. However, to produce such a team, it is required to know how to be a good leader and how to have a great relationship with their team. I learned that a leader can be a leader on a team, but he/she must realize they cannot be a boss.
