Roy Lichtenstein was one of the most renowned pop artist, which he helped originate. He was born on October 27, 1923 in New York City. His parents were Milton and Beatrice Werner Lichtenstein. Roy’s mother took him and his sister Renee to museums and concerts all throughout New York City. Which exposed Lichtenstein artist culture at an early age. He spent most of his teen years in the Modern Art Museum which influenced him to created many sculptures, drawings and paintings. The summer of 1940, the year he graduated high school, he studied painting and drawing at the Art Students League of New York with Reginald Marsh. Roy attended Ohio State University. Claude Monet played an essential role in a development of Impressionism. He created many paintings by capturing powerful art from the world around him. He was born on November 14, 1840, in Paris, France. Later, his family moved to Le Havre, Normandy, France because of his father’s business. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born in 1841 to a tailor and dressmaker. He attended a Christian Brother's School where he was taught the rudiments of drawing. At the age of 13 he was apprenticed to a firm of porcelain painters, Levy Freres et Compagnie, whose workshops were near the Louvre. At the same time, he took drawing lessons from the sculptor Callouette. After serving his apprenticeship as a porcelain painter, he worked for a M. Gilbert, a manufacturer of blinds. In 1860 he became a student of Charles Gleyre and enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In April, 1864 he came out 10th of 106th candidates in a sculpture and drawing examination there.

He attended Yale University in the early 1920's, but never completed his formal education there. In 1925 he entered studies at the Art Students League in New York City where he started painting under the instruction of Max Weber. Although he studied under Max Weber, he still considered himself as basically a self-taught painter. In the 1930's and 1940's he went through phases influenced by Expressionism and Surrealism, but from about 1947 he began to develop his own distinctive style for which he is known for today. Critics labeled Mark Rothko as an Abstract Expressionist, but defiantly he argued this association by his peers, because he did not want to be known for a certain style.
