To start with, Rosie Perez or Rosa Marie Perez was born on September 6, 1964 in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City, United States. She is a actress, dancer, choreographer, director, and community activist. Her parents are Lydia Perez, a singer and Ismael Serrano, a merchant marine seaman. Her aunt had been raising and catering her until her mother, Lydia Perez took her away and put her in Foster Care when she was 3. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if Rosie was to detest her parents after all they put her through. Rosie stayed there until she moved in with another aunt when she was 12. She actually never thought of being an actor, especially a famous one. She wanted to become a marine biologist and her whole career just started with one accidental trip to the club. Rosie started starring in many movies such as 'Do the Right Thing' in 1989 and 'Night on Earth' in 1991; she has been in a total of 34 movies. She also directed her own movies and would choreograph many dances or join them herself. Rosie has also been awarded with 8 wins and 15 nominations for example; 'Best Supporting Actress' and 'Oscar Nomination'. She also lent her voice to numerous television project.
