In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare is talking about a feud between two families; the Montagues and the Capulets which follow to revenge then love and ended in a tragedy that killed two young souls Romeo and Juliet. He also wanted to explain the real meaning of true love and the obstacles lovers can find themselves in.Juliet’s Nurse plays an important role in the play, her key function in the play was to act as a go between Romeo and Juliet and besides Friar Lauwrence , she was the only one who knew about the wedding which led to the tragedy. She was a servant in the Capulet’s home and was the closest person to Juliet They had a connection that Juliet’s didn’t even have with her own mom ( lady Capulet). In her first scene, the Nurse repeatedly stated that Juliet has not yet celebrated her 14th birthday yet ”I’ll lay fourteen of my teeth-And yet, to my teen be it spoken, I have but four- She ‘ s not fourteen. How long is it now To Lammastide?’’ (Romeo and Juliet.1.3.11-14) which shows that their relation dated since was she very young. She played a significant role to them. At the party, she told Romeo of Juliet’s identity. She always has Juliet’s back, for many examples, she stops Juliet’s mom from walking into their love scene, she breaks up their kissing scene before her mom walks in. She kept watching over Juliet’s back when she went to the balcony to talk to Romeo. And also she was the one Juliet’s send to inform Romeo about their wedding plan, so if not for her, it would be it impossible for their relationship to be successful. Beside Romeo and Juliet she was the only one to know about their relationship. Juliet was more comfortable talking to her than her own mom.
