The family’s feud is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In the opening scene, the servants from the Capulet and Montague sides are fighting. This scene helps show us that these families are not going to get along. This brings out the drama and action in the story. The family’s feud also forces Romeo and Juliet to hide their love. They can’t be seen together because their families would not accept them anymore. The family’s hate for each other is so strong. The Prologue states,”From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life.” (Prologue 3-6) These opening words tell us what will happen to Romeo and Juliet. …show more content…

Friar Laurence had many ideas to keep Romeo and Juliet together. But, they never worked. Friar Laurence thought of this elaborate plan to have Romeo show up at the same time Juliet awoke. Friar sent a letter to Romeo explaining the plan but it never go to him. His planned caused both Juliet and Romeo to kill themselves. The article ”Beyond Raging Hormones” states,”It appears that new activated patterns for some emotional states - feelings that are triggered more quickly or greater intensity - are linked to biological changes occurring with puberty.” (Dahl) This quote supports that Juliet must have been feeling a bunch of emotions. She didn’t really understand what she was feeling because she was only thirteen years old. Puberty changes how you feel. Friar Laurence also made the mistake of leaving Juliet before she killed herself. He tried to take her away but instead left her. He could have saved her life if he would have forced her to go with him. Friar Laurence had tried to make it look like he didn’t know what was going on.
