Romanticism in Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer

Mark twain was an Interesting man who wrote about many books some about boyhood tales about adventure like Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. The book is full of Romanticism as the young boy Tom sawyer does his mischievous deeds like playing hooky from school and avoiding punishment by tricking his friends to white wash the fence in the beginning of the story. ‘’I have never let my schooling interfere with my education`` by mark Twain show the humor and depth behind his words. It illustrates how individuals learn the basics in school and do their real learning outside through experiences and trying new things.

In the Mark Twain he became an apprentice ‘cub’ river pilot under Horace Bixby, earning his license in 1858. In that his brother Henry died in an explosion on the steamboat Pennsylvania. He sailed from New Orleans to St. Louis till 1861 when The American Civil War broke out. After Mark Twain got saddled with debt after an unsuccessful business venture he worked his way out of debt. By doing this he sort of became a hero of sorts to his fan of his novels.

The major event going on during his time was the Civil War that lasted from 1861 to 1865. He found the people urging for the war like the pastors to be hypocritical and even wrote a book called The War Prayer in 1923 but it wasn’t released till after his death due to possible public controversy. He was a Presbyterian as such he hated unnecessary senseless violence like war.

The Civil war gave mark Twain to explore outside his state because of his to places like Nevada territory to pan for silver where his broth Orion was appointed secretary of the Nevada Territory. He also traveled to many place like Europe, Hawaii, and the Holy Land.

All the events mention in this book are more or less collective experiences of him and his friends with a few thing added for effect like getting stuck like when Tom and Becky got stuck in the cave the which happened to be the villains hideout. This was what made the story interesting romantic piece because of the way he told the story.

The point of the story is just to remember the fondness of being a kid and having fun. It was not a serious piece mainly meant to entertain boys and girls without turning of adults in is a universal tale that could be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age due to its fun nature.

Mark Twain was a remake man in many Respects got rich, defends the underdog defying public norm and culture of the day, lived his dreams and made people laugh. He was an interesting man to say the least but his legacy will live on in his books and legends
