Tom wins so easily against Gatsby because Tom has more history with Daisy and is able to overpower her. For the time that they have been married it is shown that Tom has a lot of control over Daisy. This is because when Nick first goes over to their house Tom is on the phone, most likely with Myrtle, but Daisy doesn’t talk to Tom about this affair because she know that she wouldn’t win the argument. Plus, Tom and Daisy have been together for nearly five years so they have grown a bond between them.
