Since the United States gained its independence from Great Britain in 1776, there has been a debate about abortion in America. Some people believe that abortion should be abolished all altogether. Some people believe that the abortion right belongs to women. According to Shimabukuro (2016), “In 1973, the U.S Supreme Court concluded in Roe v. Wade that the U.S Constitution protects a woman’s decision to terminate her pregnancy”. (Shimaburkuro, 2016, p. 1) As a result of the U.S Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, the creation of a Pro-Choice and a Pro-Life group emerged. The Pro-Choice group believes that women should have the right to make decisions about their own body.
