The great find Robert Ballard was born on june 30, 1942. He had two sisters named Barbara Ballard and marjorie Jacobsen. Ballard grew up in Pacific Beach, San Diego, California to a mother of German heritage and a father of British heritage. He has attributed his early interest in underwater exploration to reading the novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, living by the ocean in San Diego, and his fascination with the groundbreaking expeditions of the bathyscaphe Trieste. Also Ballard’s father was the chief engineer. At North American, he worked on North American's failed proposal to build the submersible Alvin for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Often times, the history that is being told is one of Hawaiian weakness, and defeat. The Bayonet Constitution of 1887, the Overthrow of 1893, and the Annexation of 1898, are all often used as examples of moments of powerlessness in the Hawaiian Kingdom. What about all history prior to, in between, and after, these major dates? Surely, it did not just disappear. In the last few decades, Hawaiian history has changed dramatically due to the works of many Hawaiian historians. The history that was lost has been found, and new discoveries are still being made. Hawaiʻi’s history is a story of resistance, pride, and unity. Included within this history is a man named Robert William Kalanihiapo Wilcox. Wilcox was a revolutionist, and a leader, but he enjoyed being a politician the most. Wilcox was the beacon of hope that helped guide the people of Hawaiʻi through darkness. Wilcox was and still is today a symbolic figure in Hawaiʻi’s political history.
Robert E. Lee was the best General for the South, and out smarted every Union General that was put against him. To The South, Lee is like a godly figure to them. He inspired The South even when the North controlled the battlefield, and is still thought highly of by some people in the confederate states. To the North, Lee was a traitor and even lost his citizenship. Although he lost, Lee is still a giant face in history.
George Roger Clark was known as the "Conqueror of the Old Northwest" during the American Revolutionary War. George Clark had became a huge help to capturing British and Indian territory, Northwest of the Thirteen Colonies. Clark was a military leader for the American colonists in the American Revolutionary War, helping the Americans be successful in the Northwest, and was known for conquering most of the Northwest Territory for the thirteen colonies. Guiteau was born in Freeport, Illinois, the fourth of six children of Jane August (née Howe) and Luther Wilson Guiteau,[1] whose family was of French Huguenot ancestry.[2] He moved with his family to Ulao, Wisconsin (now Grafton, Wisconsin) in 1850 and lived there until 1855,[3] when his mother died. Soon after, Guiteau and his father moved back to Freeport.[4]
George Walton was one of three representatives from Georgia to sign the Declaration of Independence. The exact date of his birth is unknown but it is believed to be in the year 1749 in Prince Edward County Virginia. At a young age his parents died and he was adopted by and uncle who trained him to be a carpenter. In 1769 George moved to Savannah Georgia to pursue a legal career. He soon became one of the most successful lawyers in Georgia. He became increasingly active in the Georgia Revolutionary government and was elected to provincial congress in 1775. In 1776 he first served in the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia where he signed the Declaration of Independence.
While the Reconstruction Era lasted only a short time its impact on the nation’s progression was far reaching. Scholar Douglas R. Egerton attempts to encapsulate the trials and tribulations of Reconstruction in his publication, The Wars of Reconstruction: The Brief, Violent History of America’s Most Progressive Era. The slaves might not have freed themselves, but it was up to them, according to Egerton, to build some sort of appreciable meaning into that freedom. For that purpose Egerton sets Reconstruction in the South.Unlike many of his contemporaries, Egerton does not rely on narrative stylings to tell Reconstruction’s story; instead he utilizes an array of local primary sources such as newspaper reports, case law, and various other outlets
This survey paper will explore the early events of Reconstruction during and immediately after the Civil War. The topics that will be addressed in this survey paper will be the Thirteenth Amendment, the Freedmen's Bureau, the Black Code, the Fourteenth Amendment and finally some political and social achievements of Reconstruction. Reconstruction to African Americans began as a feeling of joy and triumph for their freedom which was taken away quicker than it took to receive but it just wasn't called slavery anymore.

Clifford M. Hardin was born in 1915 and died in 2010 at the age of 94. Throughout his almost century-long life, Hardin witnessed huge changes. The first telephone conversation ever happened the year he was born and before he passed, the first iPhone was released. He lived through both World Wars, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, as well as the invasions of both Afghanistan and Iraq. Hardin was alive during the time when African-Americans did not have equal rights and before he died he saw America elect its first African-American president. He witnessed America at some of its lowest and highest points.
Robert Gould Shaw was born in Boston, Massachusetts 1837 into a family of abolitionists, unlike his mother Sarah Blake, and his father Francis George Robert Gould Shaw did not really have a thing for freeing slaves but his parents had a passion for it. They wanted to end the slave act and have them freed. his dad was called one of the advocates of the abolition of slavery and his mother was a part of it too. The Shaws had a large inheritance left by his paternal grandfather, Robert Gould Shaw, from which he got his name. Shaw had four sisters Anna, Josephine, Susanna, and Ellen. When Robert was five he moved to a large estate in West Roxbury, New York. when he was a teenager he traveled to Europe to study mathematics and foreign languages. While he was in Europe, he learned to play the piano and violin in boarding school in Switzerland. He also went traveled in Europe for social activities, like going to the theater, opera, concerts, and parties. Later on in his life Shaw passed an exam to get into Harvard University back in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was not good with academics and spent most of his time playing sports and music. He was involved in a musical group in which he played the violin. Shaw left Harvard before he actually graduated, disappointed because he was not sure what sort of career he was going to go after. He did not seem like he had any further plans for himself.

Frank Hurley: The Man Who Made History (2004) is a documentary written and directed by Simon Nasht, starring Australian photographer Frank Hurley (1885-1962). The subjects of the texts gain knowledge and personal and creative insight through their discoveries. Archaeology's subject, although not immediately clear, could be considered to be the narrator. Also in the texts, evidence is shown as unreliable with certain questions about the past being unanswerable. Reconstruction was the rebuilding after the war. The Reconstruction period lasted from 1865-1877. Reconstruction was not only the physical rebuilding but also the “political, economic, and social changes” (Berkin, Cherny, Gormly, Miller, 2013, 417). The stages of Reconstruction were the Presidential Reconstruction, Freedom and the Legacy of Slavery, Congressional Reconstruction and Black Reconstruction. Reconstruction started off as a success. It united the United States. States that succeeded from the union had made new constitutions and accepted the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments.
