Robert Hayden recoups what had been lost of the African Americans by indicating us perspectives of various African Americans of their voyage of slave brokers by bringing the slaves over the Atlantic Ocean. Ones perspective in the Middle Passage is an African American saying that "A portion of the slaves would attempt to starve themselves. Lost three early today jumped with insane chuckling to the insane sharks, sang as they went under."(Hayden, 1962/2013, p.2372). Additionally in the Middle Passage "That team and Captain yearned with them comeliest of the savage young ladies kept bare in the cabins."(Hayden, 1962/2013, p.2373). Robert Hayden enlivens what occurred back in that time and its extremely striking to me understanding it since its pitiful to think what the slaves experienced. Hayden reveals a woman who is a vocalist and sings "In light of the fact that there was there was a man some place in a candy cane stripe silk shirt, grackle and unsafe as a panther and on the grounds that a ladies groaned for him."(Hayden, 1962/2013, p.2377). Though admittedly guilty, we can see how demanding of blood the Whites were, during this critical moment that anything that could’ve hurt their brothers and sisters were punished by either hanging or transportation back to Africa. Meanwhile, in the latter’s pamphlet, he took time to mention the significant role of an enslaved Black woman in the recapturing of slaves in Kentucky, who fought back against their captors. A rare opportunity wasted by the unnecessary kindness of the enslaved woman. She was heavily criticized by Walker saying that “the actions… really unsupportable” (Wilentz, pg. 24). He also mentioned how heartless White Christian Americans were and they deserve no support nor protection from the Black people.
