River Trout Fishing

The goals of many fishermen are to be in a river fly fishing and land a trophy trout. The scenery is relaxing and a gentle cool breeze is blowing making it the perfect scenario. Despite these seemingly perfect conditions, this particular outing doesn’t come with the perfect ending. You see, River trout fishing is or can be difficult. So to make your trip rewarding, you can increase your chances and expectation by following a few tips.

Using the right type of line:

When you set out to go river trout fly fishing, it is best to start out with a dry line called a double taper. This kind of fly fishing line is easier to use especially for beginners because the line is a stiffer line and moves through the rod eyes smoother and has less chance of getting tangled.

Using the right type of cast:

One of the most important aspects of fly fishing is your back cast. It really is the backbone of a good cast and sets the stage for flawless forward cast. Be careful not to over cast and allow plenty of time for all of the line to get out completely behind you. Raise your hand in bringing the tip of the rod to the one o’clock position making sure you keep the line behind the rod so that it forms an arc behind the rod. always remembering to work with the wind and use it to your advantage. Then thrust your rod sharply forwards and backwards several times, and stopping suddenly at the ten o’clock position. This type of forward motion will roll out the line and then straighten it out. This takes some practice to get the line to roll out instead of coming straight out, If need be increase the power of your thrust to get it to roll for you.
