“I have a dream” the famous words of Martin Luther King jr. are the most remembered of the entire civil rights movement. The ripple effect caused by this movement still continues today!

interestingly, this speech was not planned . While Martin was standing on the pew he started his speech. Someone yelled out from behind him on the risers; “tell them about the dream“! In fact,the whole thing started when a woman, who was told to go to the back of the bus,refused to move. The bus driver became angry and was about to hit her. In fear of getting hit by the bus driver, the African American woman ran off of the bus. This woman was not Rosa Parks but she was inspired by Rosa Parks and she was tired of being treated like she was not important or that she would never amount to anything. She held a meeting with the board of an African American school and word got around about their plan. The plan was the Montgomery bus boycott. The boycott was well planned and alternative transportation was put in place. With the help of many volunteers, including trusted white members of several churches, an organized car-pool was started. This turned out to be a major event in history because from December 1, 1955 to December 20, 1965 African Americans in Montgomery would not ride the busses. This had a huge effect on the economy because there were mostly African Americans riding busses and African Americans made up half of the population in …show more content…

The date was August 28, 1963 this date might be recognized because it was the day Martin Luther King Jr spoke his I have a dream speech. This day was supported by musical acts that were performed to support the bridge to African Americans freedom , there was also a huge march and many more things to support the bridge to freedom and equality for African Americans. The march I am talking about is The Washington march it is called the Washington march because of course it was in Washington to be specific the crowd gathered around the reflection pool .There were about two hundred fifty thousand people that came to this event support freedom and equality for the African Americans most of them were African Americans . The singers who came to support were Bob Dylan, Josephine Baker , Joan Baez , Mahalia Jackson and so many more . There were a lot of speakers to speak today, while they were deciding who would talk when nobody wanted to go last because they thought that the news crew would be gone so martin took the spot because he did not care when he went he just had to speak to keep the news crew there he said he would keep the speech under four minutes but his speech ended up taking sixteen minutes but the news crew and the crowd stuck around for the whole speech
