Rick Perry Biography James Richard Perry was born in the small town of paint Creek Texas, on March 4th, 1950. In a town with the population less than 400 you have to find things to keep you occupied. Perry spent most of his time working on this family ranch. Even at a young age, Rick Perry reach his goals. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout scout I feel like; at a young age, he was determined to do good things.
Rick was accepted in the A&M University. 300 miles away from the small town of Paint Creek Texas. He graduated after 4 years with a bachelor's degree in animal science. During college Perry was a male cheerleader after college, he enrolled in the air for Air Force Cadets and did extensive training he retired as a commanding officer after he retired he move back to Paint Creek. As governor, Perry was very successful. When in office for governor of Texas, he created over 2.1 million dollars in the past decade. Forbes named Texas number one in business, almost every year for the past eight years. Perry also made the criminal justice rates go down by relaxing penalties on small drug crimes, etc. He signed and passed many justice laws to achieve a lower crime rate. The people of Texas are diverse and carry their “big can-do attitudes and accents” (Pearson); making Texas a bigger than life state. The political culture of Texas is impacted by two different subgroups of individualistic and traditionalistic characteristics. The combination of traditionalism and individualism has had a huge impact on the state and Texas’ seven different constitutions. The shift in power between 1827 and 1876 has impacted the political diversity Texas has today. Looking at the specifics of these subcultures, the traditionalists believe government should benefit the wealthy and powerful, and that government services must be limited.
The Texas Legislature is far too archaic to provide consistent leadership for a state government; Congress has become too enmeshed with the executive branch and leaves blurry lines drawn in its separation of powers. The ideal legislature would be a modernized version of what the Texas Constitution created.
The Governor of Texas needs to not only be a citizen of the United States, but also reside in Texas for at least five years immediately preceding the election in order to fully understand the policies Texas residents’ are dealing with, the culture of Texas, as well as how Texas’ political decision impacts the rest of the nation. There has been a huge question of why Texas has shifted from being mainly Democratic to Republican state. When reading “Cowboy Conservatism” by Sean P. Cunningham the most basic analysis of why there has been the drastic change was because rather than Texas leaving the Democratic Party the Democratic Party left Texas. Both parties went through a great amount of change on what each specific party views were. For example “Both parties experienced periods of factional discord and ideological readjustment” The democratic and republican parties had big changes in their political views. The economic changes that Texas was undergoing was one of the reasons that there was discord in the democratic and republican party. Increase in the population in the suburbs was a huge impact in the change of the political parties. The migration into the major cities such as Houston, Austin, and Fort Bend County had an influence on the votes. Since there was an influx of people from other places with republican views there was a tremendous increases of change in votes of political party’s from democratic to republican. Matthew C. Perry was born in Newport, Rhode Island on April 10, 1794, the younger brother of another United States naval officer, Oliver Hazard Perry. Perry was an American naval officer who had seen action in the War of 1812 aboard the USS President, flagship of Stephen Decatur. He later helped found the country of Liberia in West Africa as a haven for free black Americans, and was given the task of "opening" Japan to diplomatic and commercial relations with the United States with the hope that U.S. sailors could receive better treatment in the process.
The government of the state of Texas is a difficult and complicated institution that is composed of many different levels. The question comes in to everyone's mind at one time or another whether or not to trust the government. It could be that people believe that the officials will take advantage of their power, or simply people don't like the idea of being controlled by someone who is not a family member or friend. To avoid this centralized power, the government is divided into stages and this is a reasonable ground for trusting the government. Government runs this state and it does deserve to be trusted.
Texas has been a Republican state since between 1970’s and 1990’s. The changes occurred because the influx of people into Texas during that time were conservative and usually had some money. Conservative Democrats were most likely to lose to a Liberal Democrat in the Democratic primaries which would lead to the conversion to Conservative Republicanism. This does not mean the possibilities of the State of Texas could never become Blue once again but it would be very difficult nowadays. The Democratic primary leader would have to have a strong presence in the State of Texas or the elected official would need to be a conservative Democrat.

Perry was born on October 27th, 1928 to two rodeo performers who would later separate when he was still a child. Perry would be raised by his mother who would battle with an addiction with alcohol his entire childhood. Before Perry could reach the age of adulthood his mother would die leaving him in the hands of a Catholic Orphanage. Where Perry was constantly abused both physical and emotional for wetting his bed, while would become a lifelong problem. In his teens Perry would go to live with his itinerant father. Within these years two of Perry’s sibling would end up killing themselves while his only living sibling would cut off all contact with Perry.
