SUMMARY OF COMPLAINT:
On February 20, 2018 Corporal Rick Aguiar contacted Captain Hector Rodriguez and advised him of possible employee harassment by Lieutenant Eddie Vazquez. Cpl. Aguiar told Captain Rodriguez that he used to have a dating relationship with a Pomona city employee, Melissa Cansino. Cpl. Aguiar stated that when he spoke to Melissa she told him that Lt. Vazquez has been inappropriately pursuing her. These conversations usually occurred through department emails and occasionally in person when both Lt. Vazquez and Melissa came into contact with each other at city hall. Lt. Vazquez also told Melissa that Cpl. Aguiar, “is a piece of shit and an embarrassment to the department” because people call the department frequently to complain about him. Melissa told Cpl. Aguiar that she could not believe that Lt. Vazquez had so much hatred for him. Aguiar stated that he was fearful of Lt. Vazquez due to his management position and requested that the

They were co-workers and spoke on occasion via emails, telephone and in person. At no time did Vazquez ever make her feel uncomfortable or say anything offensive or inappropriate to her. When asked if Vazquez said anything negative about Aguiar, Cansino was hesitant but responded that he had. When she was asked to elaborate, she said that Vazquez had told her that Aguiar had dated several women and had a girlfriend. She stated the conversation was so long ago that she didn’t really remember exactly what was said. She just remembered that Vazquez had told her that Aguiar was a player and to be careful. She did not recall Vazquez telling her he was going to keep Aguiar from promoting. She did state that Vazquez complemented Aguiar, saying he was a good cop. Cansino had trouble recalling specifics about her conversations with Vazquez. She felt that he was just looking out for her best interest as a friend and did not want to see her get
Justice can be achieved through various processes and principles if applied correctly, similarly justice can also be denied through these same processes and principles. This is exemplified through the Andrew Mallard case (M v The Queen 2005 HCA 68), and the missing persons case of Kieffen Raggett (2007) which shows how the incorrect application of processes like police investigations and coronial inquests can lead to justice being denied. Furthermore, legal principles such as; the rights of the accused and victims, are instrumental in achieving justice as shown through the application of these principles within these cases. These processes and principles can fail due to prejudged conclusions, police corruption, human error and cultural barriers
Becoming an American requires adjustment to the English language and interacting with different people. In the essay “Aria: A Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood,” Richard Rodriguez illustrates the distinctions between individual and social identity as a Mexican immigrant. He explains individual identity through the process of considering himself as an American citizen. Rodriguez also acknowledges the necessity of assimilating into the American culture and the consequences that follow.

At the tail end of the Industrial revolution (1780-1850), Andrew Ure was one of few outright supporters of industrialization, and the surge of factories. In the late 18th century to the mid 19th century, Britain experienced an astonishing increase in production due to the increased use of power driven machines. These machines were naturally housed in factories and demanded a different type of labor from what was typical up until this point in time. Skilled workers were no longer commodities, and were seen as liabilities by many factory owners, since many machines seldom required finesse and, those proficient workers traditionally demanded higher wages than the alternative. Because of the Capitalist era Britain was in, factory-owners, being
Issue: Phillip Spector had gone to the House of Blues with Kathy Sullivan at about 1:45 a.m. on the 3rd of February. A healthy set of identical twin boys, Bruce and Brian Reimer were born in August of 1965 to Janet and Ron Reimer in Canada. At the age of eight months old, the twins were recommended to undergo a circumcision because they had a hard time urinating due to the condition phimosis. Unfortunately, during the procedure, the apparatus malfunctioned and it damaged Bruce’s penis. His parents then contacted Dr. John Money who was a medical psychologist at Johns Hopkins. He advised the Reimers to raise Bruce Reimer as a girl. Dr. Money convinced the parents that Bruce will be able to live a happy life as a girl because growing without a penis would be devastating. Bruce was named Brenda after the sex reassignment surgery at the age of 21 months old in 1967. Bruce was castrated and a vagina was constructed. The parents accepted their daughter and devotedly raised her as a girl named Brenda with help of the estrogen supplements to feminize the body and grow breast. The parents were ordered not to tell Brenda the truth of her gender.
Laws today are far different from centuries ago where the laws were more regions and biblical based. The implications, raised by Harold Berman, of the separation of transcendent religious principles from the formation of law are interesting and enlightening. “[O]ne major symptom of this threatened breakdown is the massive loss of confidence in law-not only on the part of law-consumers but also on the part of law-makers and law-distributors. A second major symptom is the massive loss of confidence in religion-again not only on part of those who (at least at funeral and weddings) sit in the pews of our churches and synagogues, but also on the part of those who occupy the pulpits” Harold J. Berman, Faith and Order The Reconciliation of Law and
Current research and scholarly literature continue to examine various aspects of learning in today’s society (Farkas, Lleras, & Maczuga, 2002). Particular attention is given to research in the educational system, especially with regards to minority students (Fisher, 2005). Considering the on-going social discussions on racial/ethnic disparities, many researchers now seek to explore the relationships and themes that exist in, and influence the academic achievement and school performance of minority students (Farkas et al., 2002; Roscigno & Ainsworth-Darnell, 1999). While this research area may seem fairly new to some due to its increased and continued
It all started on the evening of December 7, 1982. A young waitress in her twenties, named Debbie Carter, had taken off of her shift early at a local Ada bar. She proceeded to enjoy a few drinks with several old high school friends before heading home shortly after midnight. Debbie was last seen having a confrontation with a man who was a regular at the bars as she got into her vehicle. The waitress’s friends had asked her to come join a group of them going to back to one of the friend’s houses to continue the hanging out; Debbie declined, but about 2:30a.m., her friend, Gina received two calls back to back from Debbie. Through all the n...
Finding a definition of child physical abuse is controversial, but the signs of a child being abused is straightforward if you know how to read them. For example, Hitting, punching, kicking them, or using objects to injure to abuse them. All those examples are seen in the case of 8- year- old, Gabriel Fernandez after he was brutally abused for eight months.
Dagmar Berman does the work with Lars and collaborates to create a very dynamic helping relationship. Dagmar takes the position of an appreciative ally and stands with Lar being ever curious and attentive to how she could give further support (Madsen, 2007). Dagmar’s stance is evidenced by her support of Lars’ belief that Bianca is real by her animated interactions with Bianca, agreement to treat Bianca for low blood pressure, and attendance at her funeral. Dagmar’s curiosity is evidenced through the discoveries of Lars’ dislike of being touched, anxiety surrounding Karin’s pregnancy, and fear of maternal death. Dagmar’s support for Lars and stance as appreciative ally is evidenced in her
