Education provides kids to grow up and become ready for the world as an adult. It’s important that people know who their legislators are, because the laws that our legislators create can really interfere with people’s lives. Senator, Richard Blumenthal was born February 13, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York. Richard was elected as a democrat to the U.S. Senate in 2010. He began representing Connecticut in 2011. Richard served in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1970, until he was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He held many political positions and later married Cynthia Malkin and had 4 children. “After attending the University of Cambridge on a yearlong exchange program, he returned to the United States to study law at Yale University (J.D., 1973).” Senator Blumenthal attended many highly rated colleges. He is very smart; and has very high expectations for his future. Senator Blumenthal works considerably hard on every task he can get his hands on. Additionally, Richard Blumenthal had grown up in a stern home as a child. Richard had a strict and tough childhood, due to his dad. “Blumenthal, who is not very comfortable talking about the pressure placed on him by his father, he chose his words carefully when describing their relationships.” Senator Blumenthal had an austere life growing up. His dad pushed Blumenthal to his limits. However, the strict childhood allowed him to become more successful. However, he participates in the problems that need attention. He also helps out funding for families that aren’t as fortunate as other families. Jeffrey Smart was born and educated in Adelaide where he worked as an Art teacher. After departing for Europe in 1948 he studied in Paris at La Grande University and later at the Academia Montmartre with great success. He returned to Australia in 1951, living in Sydney and began exhibiting frequently in 1957.later in his life he moved to Italy in 1971 after a successful exhibition in London, to continue his art career until his death. His art well reflected his art form.
During the War for American Independence, 78 men were commissioned as general officers into the Continental Army by the Continental Congress. Many of these generals commanded troops with differing levels of competence and success. George Washington is typically seen as most important general, however throughout the war a number of his subordinates were able to distinguish themselves amongst their peers. One such general was Nathanael Greene. At the end of the Revolutionary War, Greene would become Washington’s most important subordinate, as demonstrated by Edward Lengel’s assessment of Greene as “the youngest and most capable of Washington’s generals.” Washington and Greene developed a strong, positive and close relationship between themselves. Greene began his life in the military after having been raised a Quaker. With limited access to literature and knowledge in his younger years, Greene became an avid reader which equipped him with the knowledge necessary to excel as a general during the war. Through his devoted study of military operations, firsthand experience and natural abilities as a soldier, Greene became an excellent military commander. He would become known for his successful southern campaign, during which, he loosened British control of the South and helped lead the war to its climax at Yorktown. Throughout the war, he was involved in a number high profile battles where he built a reputation of being an elite strategist who also understood unconventional warfare, logistics, and the importance of military-civil affairs and had a natural political/social acumen. The author clearly shows how his childhood effected his adulthood, making in a living example of what he is writing about allowing the audience to more easily trust what he is writing about. Instead of using factually evidence from other dysfunctional family incidences, the author decides to make it more personal, by using his own life and comparing family ideas of the past to the present.

Richard Nixon performed well in Whittier elementary school, but due to his brother Harold being diagnosed with tuberculosis, Nixon's parents sent him to Fullerton High School instead of Whittier High School(Black). Despite fear, the risk of arrest, and the risk of dying for helping other people Raoul Wallenberg saved upwards of a hundred thousand Jewish lives from Nazis in Budapest, Hungary, earning the title “Angel of Budapest”. Wallenberg’s selfless actions defined him as an individual, not his noble, wealthy family’s actions. Without the work of Raoul Wallenberg about one hundred thousand lives would have ended in the Holocaust.
Poet, journalist, essayist, and novelist Richard Wright developed from an uneducated Southerner to one of the most cosmopolitan, politically active writers in American literature. In many of Richard Wright's works, he exemplifies his own life and proves to “white” America that African American literature should be taken seriously. Before Wright, “white” America failed to acknowledge the role African American writing played in shaping American culture. It was shocking in itself that an African American could write at all. Thus, Richard Wright is well known as the father of African American literature mainly because of his ability to challenge the literary stereotypes given to African Americans.

Richard Milhous Nixon was born into a poor family on January 9, 1913, from Francis Anthony Nixon and Hannah Milhous Nixon. They lived in Yorba Linda, California where Nixon’s father built the house. Nixon had five brothers and two of them, Harold and Arthur, died at an early age. After the failure of the Nixon’s family ranch, they moved to Whittier, California where his father, Francis Anthony, opened a combination grocery store and a gas station. Nixon had a troubled childhood, and possibly his rough childhood could have shaped Nixon’s personality. “Raised by a sometimes abusive father and a controlling mother, Nixon adopted parts of both his parents' personalities. Some historians have believed that, as a result of his childhood, Nixon had a drive to succeed and felt he had to pretend to be "good" while using any tactics necessary to achieve his goals. ”Nixon described himself as an introvert in an extrovert’s job.
From the very beginning of his time in the presidential spotlight, Theodore Roosevelt signified the Progressive goal and ambition. Often times, Roosevelt’s presidency is labeled as accidental or ironic. This irony is present in the fact that he was given the role of vice president to William McKinley simply because Roosevelt’s rising popularity and progressive ideals were seen as a threat by McKinley. The McKinley administration figured that they could silence the growing progressive voice Roosevelt embodied by giving him the menial position of vice president. So, it was seen as a shock when McKinley was suddenly assassinated, six months into his second term, and Roosevelt rose to power bringing with him new excitement and power to the Presidency (Theodore Roosevelt ). It is exactly this surge of excitement and charisma which made Roosevelt one of America’s most unforgettable presidents. His presidential career and attitude can be described by the phrase “steward of the people” which he aimed to embody throughout his term, this meant that Roosevelt made his primary goal to maintain the public good to the fullest extent of his power (Theodore Roosevelt ). Roosevelt’s character and contributions to the Progressive campaign are both equally important parts of American history and will be explored throughout this paper.

Fresh faces in Washington were the ones who wanted action, and they continually spoke up throughout 2009 about President Obama’s campaign promise. Democratic House member Patrick J. Murphy from Pennsylvania, the first Iraq War veteran elected to Congress, was an adamant voice in calling for legislation to immediately repeal DADT. He went to school at Columbia University Law School, Groton Preparatory School and Harvard University. After exiting Harvard he entered law school. He didn’t graduate but, he did get into the New York City law firm of Carter, Ledyard, and Milburn.

His parents engaged him in conversations that promoted reasoning and negotiation and they showed interest in his daily life. Harold’s mother joked around with the children, simply asking them questions about television, but never engaged them in conversations that drew them out. She wasn’t aware of Harold’s education habits and was oblivious to his dropping grades because of his missing assignments. Instead of telling one of the children to seek help for a bullying problem she told them to simply beat up the child that was bothering them until they stopped. Sigmund Freud, probably the most famous psychologist and most controversial of the twentieth century, has helped shaped how we consider our views of the world. His theories bring forth a new kind of thinking to the psychology world and show why we think them. It’s a way many don’t think but may put forth the reasoning to it. There are many though that think Freud was just another crazy psychologist that was on drugs. Though his many proofs behind his major theories such as: the conscious and unconscious mind, the Id, Ego, and Superego, psychosexual theory, and others as well, can prove why it wasn’t just a drug trip Freud was on.
