Rhetorical Essay America is known for being a ‘melting pot’ when it comes to diversity. There are so many people from so many different countries residing in the United States today. America was actually founded by immigrants that migrated to the Western continents in search of freedom. That was the mentality that America was founded on yet today, immigrants coming to America in search of freedom or refuge are not being welcomed. The undocumented immigrants that are already residing in the United States continue to fight to keep their life here with their family and community where they feel safe and at home. Many are actually Women and children fleeing persecution in their homeland and are searching for refuge. They come seeking Asylum which is an international law to which countries are obligated to grant protection to someone who has fled their country and offer them sanctuary. Another reason these individuals are intent on coming to America is to reunite with family members who are already here. Children often come to reunite with parents or vice versa. Once an immigrant is apprehended at the border, the United States must take responsibility for them. In many serious cases, these immigrants are able to obtain visas that gives them the ability to remain in America if they fear tyranny in their native country. If a child is apprehended, it is under international law as well as American federal law that they are turned over to the Office of Refugee Resettlement who then are responsible for placing the child with a sponsor (Parents, relatives, homeland security shelters, foster homes, etc.) as they await the verdict of their court
