It amazes me how a few decades ago can seem like a whole different world. A course of time can impact our lives more than we know it. In the article, A Day Without Feminism by Jennifer Boumgoidnei and Amy Richntds, both of these authors created this piece to inform their audience that although women have gained more rights over time, there was still more progress to be made. These authors gave many examples of how life for women had been, the obstacles they had to overcome, and the laws women had to break for equality. During the 1970’s, women were extremely mistreated and did not have many rights. There were very limited opportunities and women were restricted for doing certain things that men could. Throughout the United States women were not tried as equals compared to men. At the time, ladies could barely do anything if they did not have a husband, lesbian women did not have the freedom to express their sexual preference, abortions were illegal, females could only attend certain college and occupy certain jobs, and this list of inequalities can go on for days. According to the article some of these problems still exist today which is a major issue. Honestly this was one of the most engaging pieces I have read in a long time. There was a lot of facts that supported the authors’ thesis which was that there has been changes for women over time but there is still room for progress and I completely agree. I believe that the authors were also feminist because in parts of the article were they explained inequality there were sarcastic tones towards the opposing arguments. Overall this paper has made me reevaluate my life and my thoughts on feminism honestly. Honestly, I was ignorant and did not have a well understanding of how hard life was for women and I am thankful that I am informed now. I have different view on feminism
