On Friday, March 4, 2016 at approximately 10:30 a.m., I entered the male restroom next to the Office of the Dean of Humanities and Liberal Arts on the ground floor of the Sir Clifford Campbell Building. Upon entering the restroom, I realized that it had just been cleaned by the ancillary staff member whom I saw with a mop and a blue bucket at the entrance to the restroom. However, a pungent odour was present. Upon closer observation, I realized the overriding chemical reagent was sodium hypochlorite. This is on the basis that, when I looked inside of the toilet bowl the liquid appeared greenish-yellow in colour.
Subsequently, I proceeded to use the toilet closer to the door painted in grey. The door was the only point of entrance and exit to the restroom. As a result of the presence of sodium hypochlorite, I was experiencing burning sensation of the eyes, nose and skin. In addition, my eyes started to get watery, I was squeezing uncontrollable and I felt nauseous to the point of passing out. Due to how I was felling, I hastily washed my hands, eyes and nose and existed the restroom. Within two minutes, after leaving the restroom, the burning sensation of my eyes, skin and nose was no longer present and the nauseous feeling had left.

The high volume of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) that was used to clean the restroom resulted in the nauseous feeling that I was experiencing and the burning sensation of my eyes, nose and skin. Also, there was no waiting period between the time that the restroom was finished clean and the time that students were allowed to commence using the restroom.
