The main point that I would choose to speak from Psalm 119 is that the Word of God is a guide for us as we live our lives. In verse 105 the psalmist writes "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." Once I saw that verse and than read the first chapter from DeYoung's book, I tried thinking of times when I responded to it by saying "Yes!, Yes!, Yes!" as DeYoung writes about on page fifteen, and why I responded that way. Or why I respond to the Word in the other two ways that DeYoung mentions. As DeYoung describes the Word of God in his book I find it amazing that I struggle to find time to read and be amazed by it. I cannot exactly say what happened, as a theme, in this book because the theme keeps changing, but what I think the author was trying to do was simplify the important facts in the bible so people who don’t understand all of the “thee’s” and “thou’s” will be able to have a better understanding of what it has to offer. In chapter ten, there’s a section called “change the world.” One thing in this section that stuck out in my mind was this, “Charity is like a lever. You can move a large heavy abject with a lever. But you also need a fulcrum. That’s the gospel. The foundation. You need them both. With both, you can move the hearts of men, If the Holy Spirit blesses your efforts. You can move even the world. You can usher in peace that surpasses all understanding.” Faith is the evidence of things unseen. (Hebrews 11:1) this verse was used in a section called “faith and victory.” It brings to mind words said by a man named Billy Grahm. He said, “Have you ever seen God? I’ve never seen the wind. I see the effects of the wind but I’ve never seen the wind.” Our faith is in a constant battle with the world. Neither winning nor losing. Some may fall, others may become martyrs but we are constantly getting “reinforcements” from the side we’re fighting against. They are the people who realize that our faith in God is stronger than anything the world can throw at us.

The doctrine of Scripture is foundational to the Christian faith. But there is more to say about Scripture than simply, “The Bible says it.” I believe it. That settles it.” If you don’t grasp what the Bible is and how it came to be, you’ll never fully grasp its meaning. Since the meaning of the Bible is vitally important to our faith and life. God has spoken and God speaks. God has spoken and continues to speak through the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. The questions that I ask myself on a daily basis is, how well do I know what the Bible tells us about the Bible? Could I go into a room with complete confidence and speak the truth to many different people? That is why it is always important for me to be prepared.

Other Authors of the Psalms include: David, who is attributed to writing Seventy Three of the Psalms. Asaph was the music director during the reigns of David and Solomon. He wrote twelve psalms. They wrote twelve psalms. Solomon is the Author of two of the Psalms. He composed Psalm Seventy-two and Psalm One Hundred and Twenty-Seven. Heman a singer in the time of Asaph and David wrote the Eighty-Eighth Psalm. Ethan was a companion of Asaph and Heman in the worship at the temple. He wrote the Eighty-Ninth Psalm. Today’s culture is one where people like to do as little work as possible.
