Who would not want to be a little bit like Wonder Woman? The character I think I am similar to is Wonder Woman from one of my favorite movies. First, Wonder Woman is a very empowering character for girls everywhere. Second, she is amazingly strong and independent. She is talented at the work she does as a super hero. Last, she is brave. She is also as tough as nails. As can be seen, I believe that I can relate to Wonder Woman in certain ways. First of all, Wonder Woman is an excellent role model for girls of all ages around the world. Her character defeated the damsels in distress era, which stereotyped girls as helpless. She proved that women are just as strong as men. She also shows the value of girls and that they do not have
Susan B. Anthony is considered a hero because, she is courageous. Susan fought against people who didn't believe that women should have the same rights as men. In addition. she created the womens right movement and got every women their rights they deserve. Another hero that is considered courageous is Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman is considered a hero because she risked her life just to find a way towards freedom. When she succeeded she helped hundreds of slaves get their freedom as
Ann Lee or Mother Ann Lee was a religious leader who brought the Shakers from England to the American Colonies. She joined “The Shaking Quakers” in 1758. Ann Lee would come to lead the advance guard of a new era in both religious liberty and toleration. Her beliefs as a Shaker would become to be the first in America to be an advocate for pacifism, abolition of slavery, equality for the sexes, communal ownership of good, and absolute celibacy. I chose to have my research paper on Ann Lee because I find it incredible that at a time where so few women were religious leader, Ann Lee became the leader of one of the most successful utopian societies. I believe that her teachings and preachings were able to shape the principles of what this country
Wonder Woman choose to save people's lives. They both did what they had to do to save many people's life. In the same same way Helen was taken away from her husband and the imbalance or injustice in the hero’s life would be when Odysseus needed to control his ego example “Odysseus, raider of cities” (9:418) he's bragging about what he can do. In the beginning of the story so he wasn't all about him and what he can all do for himself to show off he says, “I would not need them in my way glorying spirit/but let my anger flare and yelled” (9:414-415). The imbalance or injustice for Wonder Woman would be she could choose to help people but many people thought she was a big thing “Go in peace my daughter. And remember that, in
Throughout the past, there have been many heroes and heroines. Although they don’t all wear a cape, mask, and have superpowers; they all did something and they all have a story. Martha Washington is one of the many that stood out to me, and her story started June 22, 1731. Frances and John Dandridge were thrilled to welcome their first born child that summer day in New Kent County, Virginia. Martha was a very intelligent young lady, and one of the few women in her time who learned to read and write.
Like in Gilgamesh and the Iliad, women help encourage and influence the protagonists to be the heroes and protectors they are meant to be. Adventures and wars
Given Hermione’s relationship to the gender stereotype, the fact that people accept Hermione as a hero suggests that many people see her as a role model.
Who really runs the world? Beyonce is running the music industry while climbing the charts, she truly knows what she’s doing. Being driven and striving for greatness will lead you to success. She may have had bumps in the road during her career and still could experience some, but she doesn’t give up. The power of one person can have an effect on people all over the World for a good cause or not. Beyonce, twenty time Grammy winner, uses her confidence towards her acting skills, and her musical talents to show and inspire other artists and people around the world.
I feel that I am similar to her because she is very strong, but you don’t really notice her strength until it is tested. I also feel that even Marie-Laure doesn’t know her own strength. She goes through a lot of struggles that I couldn't even imagine, but I can relate some of her pain to mine. She showed her strength from the very beginning of the novel when she lost her sight only at the age of six. Every bad thing that happened to only made her more confident in herself and made her stronger as a person. In the beginning of the novel she is very young and she is still brave, but you can see the changes she has to make to herself because of the circumstances she was in. I can relate to changing as a person as I get older and mature. When I was in middle school I was a lot less confident in myself and I handled stress and the struggles of life differently than I would now. Now, in high school I feel like I can stand up for myself and be confident in becoming my own person just like
Barbara Walters recently interviewed Melania Trump, who is the wife of Donald Trump. Barbara asked Melania if she believed that the risqué photos taken during her modeling career would hurt her husband's chance of becoming president. Melania stated that people are always going to judge, but the photos she took were a part of the job she was doing. She also stated that she was a successful model. Additionally, Melania said that even though the photos were risqué, they were not worse than something you would see in "Sports Illustrated."
Through all of this, she has had to pilot her invisible jet through territories that her male counterparts have never had to. She is constantly pulled in two directions; her stories must be entertaining and non-threatening to the male status quo, while simultaneously furthering her as the original symbol of Girl Power. She is praised for being an icon of strength to women everywhere, but chastised for wearing a skimpy costume and tying men up, as if she were no more than a male fantasy. No comic book character has had to endure as much scrutiny as Wonder Woman. That's because Wonder Woman represents an entire gender, at a time of important social flux.
Martha Washington was the first, first lady of The United States of America and she disliked many parts of this job. But because of her courage, loyalty, and bravery, she got through life. Not only was Martha the first, first lady but she played other roles including being a mother of four, a spouse, a great cook, a leader, and many others. Today Martha Washington inspires so many women to do and accomplish what they want in life.
From a feminist perspective, Empress Cixi can be considered a role model. In a society where women were not considered equals, Cixi became extremely influential, and controlled what many women today cannot. Though she could not truly take advantage of her power as openly as a man would have, she did not let her gender hinder her.
Things only get more complicated when you consider the frame narrative that explains Wonder Woman’s existence. She was born as Princess Diana (interestingly paralleling another icon of womanhood) in an Amazon community that seems pretty clearly grounded in lesbianism. Although the women in this harmonious and idyllic Amazon community have gone to great lengths to hide and protect their island from incursions by men, they are nonetheless delighted when a male American army officer inadvertently crash-lands in their utopia. So smitten with him are they, in fact, that they stage a ruthless physical competition to decide who will get to pair off with him. When Diana (later Wonder Woman) wins, she happily abandons her position as a royal ruler of the Amazons to accompany him back to the United States and take a boring desk job as a lowly secretary in the army. She even trades in her cool Amazon garb for a pair of gl...
A role model. When one hears that word many people think of something or someone who has impacted their life in a positive way. In my opinion a perfect example of a role model is Oprah Winfrey. She's an African American who is not only a symbol for black people everywhere, but a symbol for all people. The Academy of Achievement has referred to Oprah Winfrey as one of the most successful and admirable woman in America. She is a woman that many people across America trust, respect, and look up to. Her ability to capture the hearts of many has distinguished her role in today's society. Oprah has live through a rough childhood, has had a great education, and has received many awards as well as recognition. Her efforts in providing and giving back to America as well as other parts in the world has gotten her the title of being one of the worlds most influential people.
In the movie "Mulan", she decided to prove that she is worth something. Even though she isn't a princess, I consider her a role model, because In history, more men have been recognized as heroes than women. Is it because men are more determined and stronger than women? A woman who has proven that this wrong is Mulan. Mulan is worthy of the title “hero” because she was an inspirational, courageous and brave. She shows young viewers that they can accomplish anything,no matter the gender. If someone has the desire to do something or be something they should do it.
