Ellen Woodbury voices Zazu. Woodbury brought a controlling but watchful presence to the film. Robert Guillaume is the voice of Rafiki. Rafiki bestows a kind of witticism and assumes to be crazier than he indeed is. He knows more than he speaks and there is a genuine method to his franticness and wisdom to his absurdity. The trio of hyenas that served Scar is Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed voiced by Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, and Jim Cummings. Whoopi's quick sarcasm and insight made her the leader of a pack of not very ingenious hyenas. Indeed, Cheech conveyed a hothead comedic spin to the allies of Scar.
