Boston Bombing Boston, Massachusetts- Nearly 23,000 runners were participating in the Boston Marathon Monday April 15th, 2013. The race was almost to an end as two thirds of the runners have passed the finish line. It was then at 2:50 pm when devastation took the stage. (Eligon and Cooper) Two bombs had exploded near the finish line at 2:50 pm approximately 8 to 12 seconds apart. (CNN Library) The smoke filled the air as the cries of bystanders set out and panic filled the streets. The crowds of people ran and trampled over each other as everyone rushed for safety not knowing were and if another bomb were to explode at any moment. A tragedy leaving 3 people dead and more than 100 injured. One of the victims who lost his life that day was an 8 year old boy named Martin Richard. Two other victims were young ladies by the name of Krystle Campbell and Lingzi Lu. (CNN Library) A hero among the runners was Dr. Natalie Stavas, a pediatric resident at Boston Children’s, Hospital, whom of which was running toward the finish line when the explosions went off. She had just made it to her hotel room and heard the explosion. Her and her mother looked out the window and seen the smoke but were unsure of what was going on. They went outside and then were quickly evacuated from their hotel. Smith explains spent hours without any luggage before they could return to their room. Finally, late that night they were able to go back to their hotel room. Her father and brother, back home in Lakeland, were so devastated; they almost jumped into the truck to drive the trip from Lakeland to Boston to get her and her mother says
