One cannot use the pretense of freedom of thought if the inquiry is not possible. In contemporary society, we censor or dance around touchy subjects; avoiding material that could potentially offend students. According to Fox News, a 14 year old student in Fort Worth, Texas, was sent to the principal’s office and suspended due to his words against homosexuality. Is this what America has come down to? Since when is stating your opinion been chided and considered punishable? The First Amendment in the Constitution states freedom of speech and since this student was stating what he believed in, so why should he be punished?
