Racism had effected society over many generations. There are 4 texts that showcase this Remember the Titans by Boaz Yakin , A Party Down at the Square by Ralph Ellison, Changes by Tupac Shakur and Oppression by Ben Harper. Repetition is used in the texts to either degrade African Americans or show that racism is still happening. Also they try and draw an emotional response from the audience and use scenes of violence to get a reaction from the audience

The first scene used in Remember the Titans by Boaz Yakins is in the opening scene of the movie. It is the protest of the murder of a black kid by a white store owner. Windows are being smashed and there is a huge police presence. This shows that the blacks are sick of the treatment they get , but the whites still want to remain superior.This gets a reaction from the viewer because it shows how the town is at each others toes and at any minute the town can become a war zone. The next piece that uses scenes of violence to get a reaction from the reader is A party down at the square by Ralph Ellison. Ellison has the whites burning a black man to death. Ellison uses this image in the reader's mind to get a reaction from the reader that is to show just how far the whites went and how hard it was for the blacks, also how the blacks were made to suffer. The next piece that uses scenes of violence to get a reaction from the reader is the song Changes byTupac Shakur. The line in his song “ Its war on the streets and its the war in the middle east”. Tupac uses this line to show how unsafe, it is for the black people in the world and how they got to always be aware and can never relax. The final piece that uses scenes of violence is the piece Oppression by Ben Harper. A line in the piece is “You will learn to fear me” This is from a white person's perspective. It gets a reaction from the reader because it gives them as unsafe , discomfit feeling and makes the reader reflect on how they treat
