Racism had effected society over many generations. There are 4 texts that showcase this Remember the Titans by Boaz Yakin , A Party Down at the Square by Ralph Ellison, Changes by Tupac Shakur and Oppression by Ben Harper. Repetition is used in the texts to either degrade African Americans or show that racism is still happening. Also they try and draw an emotional response from the audience and use scenes of violence to get a reaction from the audience
Repetition is used by directors and authors to make sure that the point is being put across. Repetition is used in A Party Down at the Square by Ralph Ellison, Changes by Tupac Shakur and Oppression by Ben Harper. In a party down at the square by Ralph Ellison the repetition is the word “nigger”.

The first scene used in Remember the Titans by Boaz Yakins is in the opening scene of the movie. It is the protest of the murder of a black kid by a white store owner. Windows are being smashed and there is a huge police presence. This shows that the blacks are sick of the treatment they get , but the whites still want to remain superior.This gets a reaction from the viewer because it shows how the town is at each others toes and at any minute the town can become a war zone. The next piece that uses scenes of violence to get a reaction from the reader is A party down at the square by Ralph Ellison. Ellison has the whites burning a black man to death. Ellison uses this image in the reader's mind to get a reaction from the reader that is to show just how far the whites went and how hard it was for the blacks, also how the blacks were made to suffer. The next piece that uses scenes of violence to get a reaction from the reader is the song Changes byTupac Shakur. The line in his song “ Its war on the streets and its the war in the middle east”. Tupac uses this line to show how unsafe, it is for the black people in the world and how they got to always be aware and can never relax. The final piece that uses scenes of violence is the piece Oppression by Ben Harper. A line in the piece is “You will learn to fear me” This is from a white person's perspective. It gets a reaction from the reader because it gives them as unsafe , discomfit feeling and makes the reader reflect on how they treat
The movie "Remember the Titans" is a character education filled film for all ages. To summarize, this movie takes place in the year nineteen seventy-one and follows the issue of racism. Two high schools in the town of Alexandria, Virginia are being integrated into an African American and Caucasian school, and that mix includes the football team. The movie follows the story of their development. At first, the two races sit, talk, and practice separate. After one practice camp, and one passionate coach, the boys learn to respect and become friendly with each other. It breeds an aura where one race feels superior over another because of skin color, or background. Remember the Titans is a film that was made in the year 2000, and it depicts many aspects of racial inequality. Racial inequality can be defined as discrimination based on race in opportunity for things such as socioeconomic mobility or access to certain goods and/or services. In the United States, this discrimination can have a strong effect on many aspects of society such as home life and employment. A large gap between Caucasians and African-Americans still exists in America. In this film, there are more white people than there are black people. In terms of major roles, there are about five black characters and more than fifteen white characters. Although the degree of importance of the black characters is pretty high, the quantity still does not compare to the white characters.
Everyday, racism is perceived as one of the most negative aspects of society. When people think of racism, they obviously see hatred, evil , and ignorance. It has been a part of world culture since recorded history and , no doubt , before that. When one thinks of racism in the United States, invariably , though not only , the struggle of the African-American is singled out. Remember the Titans is a film from 2000 displaying a true story of a racially divided football team from the 1970s. The movie highlights the relationships of the black and white people, and how they learned to interact with each other in a time when this was not the way of life. It brings up a number of questions throughout, of what is right and what is wrong, and really challenges the characters, making it a very interesting movie to watch. I have seen this movie many times, and each time I feel like I get something new out of it. It is a movie that can be used as a teaching tool, it does a great job of interpreting not only what was happening in the United States of America at that time, but social psychology concepts through real life situations.
