Religion Has Changed Over Time Essay

The world has changed in many ways since the biblical times, it’s very hard to compare these two totally different worlds. Yet the stories and beliefs from this old world have carried over and influenced millions of people since then. Why is it that over time these biblical events have stopped happening and that these traditions that were implemented have died out. There could be many reasons for this, there was much less knowledge of science back then, newer generations think that religious traditions are outdated and old fashion, and society has changed.

My friend Jack Curcio told me “The real reason I went to church was for my grandfather. I personally don’t go to church because it doesn’t do anything for me, sitting around singing hymns and listening to stories from the bible does nothing for me.” Another friend of mine, Ali Fazlani who has just recently left the Muslim faith had quite a bit to say about why he left. Ali says that he understands some traditions despite how outdated they are it’s still part of being of his religion. For example praying five times a day in certain places in certain ways is a very outdated thing to do but he understands why people do it. The one thing that he said just pushed him over the edge was the idea Shiite and Sunni. In his faith all actions were put into either a category of a good action or bad, and for some people the bad actions can be as simple as owning a dog. Recently NPR did a story on why the new generation of people are turning away from religion and Yusuf Ahmad who was Muslim and is now atheist said “"Today if some guy told you that 'I need to sacrifice my son because God told me to do it,' he'd be locked up in a crazy institution." Which brings me back to my main point that this new generation of people just don’t believe/agree with the old stories of the bible or just aren’t interested in participating in the
