Abundances of Intentions
There is an abundance of intentions behind love, ever-changing with the help of society and time. This is seen through the many relationships between Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You. Katherine pulls out three main types of relationships in the stories; family love, friendship love and romantic love.
Family was once about having the same name and that’s all. In the play “taming of the shrew” Baptista states in Act 1 Scene 1 Page 2 “I’m determined not to permit my younger daughter to marry until I have a husband for the elder one”. Family has now developed into depending upon and loving and protecting one another. Family has many stories, faces, and ways of showing love. Friendship started out to be about making yourself look better and who had the most money. Act 1 Scene 1 page 5 Hortensio says; “But wait don’t go just yet, signior Gremio. I know we’ve never exactly been allies, but it might be in both our interests, if you think about it, to put our heads together about one particular thing,” Some friendships today that are genuine are about being a person that can be depended on and loving the other person.
