In the “Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin she expresses a hidden resentment toward men and the way the world looks down upon women. This interesting poem talk about martial relationship between couples. In Kate Chopin’s "The Story of an Hour", the main character, Mrs. Mallard, is a married woman with a heart condition. Her husband Mr.Mallard was away and news comes that he has involved in a horrific train accident. Her sister gently and silently breaks the news to her. According to poem it is obvious when Mrs. Mallard found out about her husbands death then rejoiced that she was free, It turns out that she is not happily married and marriage that was possibly not even her choice.The thought of freedom …show more content…

What if men menstruate rather than women has they supposed to, is the question of what would the world be like, and how would it be different from the present, if women no longer menstruated and men do. Its kind of interesting question and an amusing. Steinem here tries to partial or paint a mental portrait of what the world might be like if men menstruate and women don’t , by giving examples that I see as being entirely true. she start her poem by addressing familiar “power” stereotypes like being white or male and points out their illogicality and ridiculousness. Steinem then presents the question, “What would happen… if suddenly, magically, men could menstruate and women could not?” to show the countless ways men would utilize menstruating as a sign of “power”and how it will be used as a piece of evidence how men are more better than women. Unfortunately,she brings out valid point as excuses being used if the tables were turned. . According to Steinen, if men could menstruate, feminists would make overdramatic claims of the “nonmenstrual” being oppressed, which they would claim leads to all other oppression and inequality. her message is this poem is to address the serious problem of gender stereotypes that dominate in the society and also empower women to stand for their rights
