In girl by Jamaica the author shows us a relationship between a mother and daughter, like old time how a mother advises her daughter to be a good daughter, good wife and a good daughter. Every mother wants her daughter to be a good woman, a woman who is respected by the society. The author picked up a very sensitive from our culture that a good woman is being brought up by her mother. This relationship tells a daughter how she has to behave in a bunch of people. In story the mother is teaching her daughter the tips of a good woken though various tasks.

In the story “Girl” the mother is telling about households like wash clothes on this day and in other story the mother is making her daughter to be brave and strong, don’t leave your path and face the hurdles with bravery and with your father knife.
In both stories authors use symbols to mention the presence of their father and their dominancy like press you father’s khaki shirt like it won’t have any crease means you have to iron your father’s shirt so nicely and carefully. The khaki shirt is of great importance.
In the other story the mother gives her daughter a knife which belongs to her father and the author mentions in the story when mother says to her daughter takes your father’s knife it will help you.
The 1st story is all about mother asks her girl to be nice and teaches him how she can be a good girl by telling her different schemes like wash clothes on this day, smile like this etc. and the other story is all about the mother asks her daughter to be prepare yourself for every situation and after passing that situation live prosperous
