Reflection: Time Management

At the beginning of this class, I was a very anxious, nervous, and stressed freshman in college and high school. I had many obligations and I did not know how to correctly prioritize and not be stressed about those obligations, but after taking FYS I now know how to. Four of the topics from this class that I experienced the most growth in is the following: time management, managing my money, stress management, and dealing with diversity. Before learning about time management I did not have a way of keeping up with my daily activities and I greatly struggled with procrastination, two of the great setbacks to managing your time. I now manage my time with a planner and decreased my procrastination by breaking large tasks into smaller ones, which I learned in chapter two. I …show more content…

Before learning about managing my money I thought there was no reason to save my money, and now I know that there are many different things to save for such as the following: paying for college, buying a car, going to the movies, etc. After learning how to manage my money I now have a weekly budget with my parents, and in the future I can use this skill by making not only myself but also my children have weekly budgets. As a freshman in high school, I tend to stress about even the littlest of things, which is a very unhealthy lifestyle. I enjoyed learning about how to deal with stress because it is something I need to know how to do to achieve certain goals of mine. Prior to learning about stress management, I did not have a way of coping with my stress; however, I now deal with my stress by taking the time to relax and not trying to change the unchangeable. In the future, I plan on using these stress-coping mechanisms during my teaching career so that I do not feel overwhelmed with work, stress, family,
