I plan on attending Hardin-Simmons University in the fall of 2017. Hardin-Simmons University will provide me with the opportunity to grow personally, academically, and spiritually. With the university being small in class size, I will become more than just part of a statistic. At HSU, entering students are seen as new members into a family. A family that will join me in my victories, help me when I struggle, and be there when I am having a rough day.
HSU will provide me with opportunities for me to grow in leadership and serve the community. This college offers clubs such as Circle K and Student Government. Their missions are to serve on the campus and community while developing leaders with a lifelong commitment to service. HSU also offers
I would hope to allow myself to distinguish myself from other students and make myself more prevalent and outstanding in my specific classes. As I would like to purse a degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, I would like to become an ‘All around Psychologist’ dabbling in numerous sections of the ‘Psychology life.’ It is my belief that this HBCU would give me all mental and educational tools that will aid me in being the best in my chosen field. It is not that I do not like the educational system at my current university, it is just that i feel as though I can excel beyond measures at my new university coming this Spring.
Because of this club experience, students will be better college candidates due to their leadership skills. Future success will be a topic we discuss, especially through application of skills we educate. Our focus is not service or diversity, rather educating students with the necessary skills to make a difference and be successful during and after high school.
My main goal while attending Baylor would be to achieve the best education possible and improve myself as a person, as well as grow stronger in my faith. I am looking to become a Pre-Nursing student and I have heard that Baylor contains one of the best medical programs in this area, prompting it to be on the top of my list of potential colleges. One of the main reasons i was drawn to Baylor is it’s strong Baptist roots. I am a strong Christian and I strive to be the salt and light of the world, as Jesus called us to be. I see great potential for Baylor to help me grow in my faith while also preparing me for my future career.
According to the university’s mission statement, the institution values, ‘Accessible and affordable quality education that equips students with intellectual and professional skills, ethical principles, and an international perspective.’ They accomplish this message by using vivid pictures of the students interacting within the Charlotte area and with each other. This college also makes itself a top candidate for college by offering ninety competitive undergraduate majors which test the abilities and mental stamina of current and prospective students.
Meanwhile, I would transfer to attend the University of Texas at Arlington. Once I start the school year, I am going to surround myself with young people, who are motivated, caring and determined, too successful in their academics as well as their personal lives. I want to strengthen my communication skills, study harder, and improve my time management skills. And maintain myself there to obtain my Bachelor Science Degree and can go deeper and higher level status in my career field. I choose to apply to this Honors Program, because I like to be challenged and I work hard for what I want to
Currently I'm gaining my knowledge at Texas A&M University in San Antonio and have deemed a wonderful experience in and out of campus. It has felt like a home since the beginning specially coming from a far away city where it distinguishes itself through cultures. The staff and professors have contributed to a well guided path to success inside the classroom in my first semester of college. Not to mention, the everyday environment has evolved from day one to the present. From going through stressful experiences to experiencing snow for the very first time. In addition, I've experienced the evolvement of creating new colleague's in a diverse city. It was a thrilling experience to encounter people from different cultures and race because it opens
My first impression of Union college was not so great as I remember first arriving to this college around mid-march and still seeing half-melted snow around the campus and also after driving through Schenectady, looking at the run down buildings and I imagined if I would ever be able to live in such a place. These questions are probably what a lot of incoming students have wondered when visiting the college for the first time, without even looking at the actual college itself and I myself felt prey to this incorrect judging. However, after arriving inside the campus and taking the tour my perspective changed and I actually felt as if I could belong to this college and my tour guide took us inside the Wold hall and after looking at how some
Chico State University is a school for a student that is in search of being successful in his/her life. It is a school that can open up a student and help them find what they would want to be, by providing the useful classes of tomorrow. These classes are top-notch and can keep people motivated to work harder, and to strive for their goal… And motivation is something that just about everyone needs.
Since I was young, there is something electrifying about receiving mail, and this was amplified when I would receive mail from my future home. I would jump up and down if anything related to Oklahoma State University was addressed in my name, even if it addressed bursar or something routine. While receiving this mail, I never stopped to think about the individuals that created the cards to make me feel so happy; however, while job searching, I found a wonderful internship that takes place right here on the Oklahoma State campus. This internship is for creating flyers and images for future students. Job searching is not an easy task; however, Oklahoma State’s Hire OSU Grads organization creates a straightforward and accessible way for students to find jobs or internships. I have found an internship that would be great for furthering my experience in the work world. In this internship, I would be working directly on campus in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. I would create graphics, mail flyers, brochures, and post on social media. In addition, this internship would help me grow as a business major; I would be able to obtain
Within Catherine T. Flaga’s (2006) research, “The Process of Transition for Community College Transfer Students”, she explains the importance of professional clubs as, “they provide information about internships and career opportunities and serve as resources about the academic field, which help solidify students’ interest in the area (p.8)”. Clubs also assist students to acquire a variety of skills both academically and in the work force. Grace Chen (2015) from the College Review writes, “In addition to helping foster practical skills [...] extracurricular activities allow students to “test the waters” and explore new areas of interest” (p.1). Clubs are important for a student’s success, not only in the classroom, but taking what they have learned into a practical experience. While clubs are gateways to allow both academic and social growth for students, student unions are the glue that maintains the livelihood of life on
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
There are many benefits of student clubs directed towards students, instructors, etc. The benefits for students include developing leadership and self-esteem skills. Students also become acquainted with the community members, instructors, and students. The students also apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in their club. Some other advantages are learning to work as a team and with people from different ethnicities. The instructors benefit from clubs by observing their students applying the skills learned in the club in the classroom and then challenge the students’ new skills.
College is a new experience for students. It is the point of a student’s life where they officially learn how to be an adult. Many people will tell students that its important to receive good grades while in college; however, its also important that students join an on campus college organization. College organizations can range from clubs associated with a students major for example Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, Fashion design. Or it can be an organization that holds their interest which could be Fraternities, Sororities, and Step Teams. Students should join a college organization because it will allow them to network, it’s a resume builder, it will teach them real life experiences,
students leadership opportunities to run activities held at the program. Combining leadership opportunities, enhanced grades, and attitude towards school will also look great on a student’s college application, and increase a student’s chance of being accepted (Beck par. 15).
The expectations that I have coming to Flagstaff is having a great education at Northern Arizona University, meet a lot of new people in my four years here, and the new cooler climate here. I expect this university to teach me the business marketing ways so when I get out of college if I work hard I can be a successful business man. I chose to come to Flagstaff for school because of the smaller campus and school size. At any huge university you are just another face in the crowd but here the class sizes are smaller and you can walk to any class on campus. Also by spending the next four years in flagstaff I will meet a lot of new people. I plan on joining a fraternity this semester I will definitely meet a lot of new people by that and also have a lot of new experiences.
