Reflecting back to this semester did I realize that Professor Ray had taught many skills to my learning on material that I have not had a chance to cover or got to in high school. She had shown many different type of technique of writing for students and taught the class writing can be enjoyable. Throughout my semester in ENG-111, my writing skills for all my papers have weaknesses like Grammar/Spelling/Punctuation for fragments, comma splices, and comma use. I also, have trouble with starting topic sentences and sentence structure of the body paragraph. However, I have made strong improvement in certain areas like development for supporting paragraph details and the thesis statement.
Whenever I write an essay or a paper, I have struggled a lot with certain area in my writing. On all of my paper that I had written for Professor Ray in the beginning of the semester, and now I had the most trouble with fragment, comma splices, and comma use also, stating the topic sentence and sentence structure. English is not my primary language and because the English language has so much rule it gets confusing. In any paper, I think having detail in the writing help brings out the structure and style or the writer. Like on essay 1 I wrote about my dad and how he is my biggest influence in my life, on this paper I had many details of each body paragraph to identify the topic of the paper better. Not only I have shown improvement in development but, my thesis statement in my writing has sharpened as well. During the time I wrote essay 3 and 4 I had learned to arrange the topics for the body paragraph to be more preferable.
