Everyone has heard of recycling, it’s mentioned in different settings and times as you grow up. Sometimes it’s heard in schools on Earth Day or the commercials as you’re watching the new reality TV show. Think about it, how much people actually listen when they hear about recycling, it’s easy to overlook. Do you ever actually take what the commercials say and apply it to real life? When thinking about recycling what are some of the first things that come to mind? In modern day you would think that recycling would be a common practice among all households in the US. Everybody hears the terms “go green” and “recycle” but most people do not know how or what to do. It seems to be mentioned in passing or as an afterthought at times. Putting a bigger influence on how and where to recycle could prove to have such great results. A man by the name of Tim Pritcharch admits he “Knew next to nothing” about the fate of his trash and was fascinated to learn (Haumes). Teaching what happens to your trash after you take it to the dumps and how it can affect the environment could be very beneficial to helping people recycle. Recycling is something that should be taught at an early age, if it is installed in the youth it will likely be carried out as they get older. To get this message to the younger generation they should recycle their own graded papers and school supplies at the end of the year. Trying to get the older generation to change their ways would be harder, but getting the message out there is a start. When the message it there looking you in the face at all times, it’s harder to ignore. Not only do the people need to know how to make recycling more easy and enjoyable, but the cities need to learn new ways to make recycling more easy and convenient. Convenience is key when it comes to recycling, which ties in with education on locations and what cities could do to start encouraging the community to recycle. Getting more attention to the problems of waste and trash could be a good start to gain attention on how recycling would
