Reality television is ruining our civilization; it is not just a source of entertainment. Reality television is considered engaging to its audience, but this type of performance is ruining our civilization and should not be advertised as “reality.” Falsely acted lives, over dramatic antics, and the obsession the shows have on people are destroying our society and taking a toll on our everyday lives.
Individuals that watch reality television look up to the falsely acted lives of the stars. Unfortunately, the shows and actors are scripted. According to Kristin Cavallari The Hills former reality star now aspiring actress, "almost all” of the MTV reality show was scripted. “Basically, all that was to get ratings. Having a favorite reality star is fine, but viewers should not let it turn into an obsession. Avid admirers of reality shows and stars become infatuated with the people involved in and out of the programs. Obsessed fans are following their favorite stars on social networking sites and pinpointing the exact location and every move the actor makes. We should not be fixated on reality stars; individuals should be more concerned of the real people and relationships in their own lives instead of the falsely acted reality stars. Fans that turn into stalkers can become dangerous to the celebrities.
