Racism Should Not Be Taught In Schools

In American public high schools race and racism should be part of curriculum. I feel that it will create a major impact on how society treats those who are different. One of the major reasons to why we learn history in school is so that it is not repeated. That would be the same reason to learn about race and racism, to learn about the past in order to prevent it from happening again. If students learn about how racism became such a big issue in America and what it did to many peoples lives then they can avert it from happening again. Students learn about Martin Luther King Jr. when they are in Kindergarten. We were all born the same way and we live on this earth together. By having this curriculum it will teach students not only kindness, but respect. I am sure that any parent would be heartbroken if they found out their own child was being bullied because they looked different. Think about what that does to a child, their confidence gets lowered, they could drop out of school, suicide could become an issue, and to think for a moment that this is because of kids not having the knowledge of racism is unacceptable. In support of this just imagine who will be taking over businesses in the next fifteen years; those students. And what will happen? History will just keep repeating itself because those students never got the chance to learn about racism. Superiority by playing the race cards to make others feel inferior is racism. In the last 100 years over 62 million human beings have paid a price for being racially different. They have been tortured, subjugated, and killed, this, despite the ‘advancement’ in culture, science, and technology. Racism is and will always remain a central issue in most places around the world. It is wrong and should be stopped. The way to further progress in stopping racism is by teaching students about it, for they are the next generation and can make the most
