History Of Problem
Throughout the history of schooling, there have been conflicts between students from different races. These problems occur during school time which negatively affect one's learning experience and social life. In today’s society, not everyone is accepting of different ethnicities and cultures they live around. In many cases, a student from the major ethnic group of a school is the one being racist to the minority group. The kids who are considered a minority have always struggled to mix in with the crowd and live a normal. They are usually viewed as different and get picked on for that by their peers. They have to be taught to hate,' she said. ‘Schools must become centres of fairness and inclusion where diversity is celebrated and a growth in understanding leads to good relations between children of different ethnic backgrounds.’” (Racism; Schools must lead way 1) Teaching kids about diversity and accepting different cultures and races can have a positive lasting effect in the way those kids behave later on in life. If they learn at a young age, kids would be less likely to develop racist ideas and become racist towards other people. Even though the civil rights movements in the 1950s caused more diversity in schools and finally broke the racial barrier in America, students in schools still have a hard time adapting to diversity. While schools allow people from all kinds of races, that does not mean the students have to be accepting of them. If racist ideas can be passed down, the future will only get worse with more racism. To prevent this from happening, society has to find ways to teach kids about racial equality and show that in today’s world, everyone is the same no matter what skin color they are. “We know we are failing when we cannot pass what we want to the children in society - they are the future who should uphold certain values that enshrine equanimity.
