The World of Public Policy Analysis Helping the American people from behind the scenes, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of the public, making sure the average person knows about the issues affecting them. This, dear reader, is the point behind being a Public Policy Analyst. Public Policy Analysts work to advise government officials in the legislative branch, ensuring the laws and regulations they pass are in the best interests of the public, and don’t actively alienate people. They also help to raise funds and advocate for certain causes, getting the word out to the public about certain issues and certain bills. Many different jobs have had massive changes happen to them, and Public Policy Analysis is no exception. For instance, the job of a public policy Analysts may someday be made much easier by, “increasing awareness among members of Congress, state and local officials, and citizens” (“Public Policy”) about national issues. These days, thanks to things like social media, and widespread internet news sites, more and more people are becoming aware of the issues going on in the world around them. This is very helpful to most government officials, especially to Public Policy Analysts, because it means it will be easier for them to engage the public in their advocacy movements without having to explain what they’re fighting for. Today, technology is part of everything in our lives, including our jobs. As technology advances, it will be used more and more in all kinds of management jobs, including Public Policy Analysis (Garvin). Many different jobs rely on technology to communicate across long distances, and with large groups. Technology can also be very useful for researching, as with the click of a keyboard, people can find massive amounts of information on any given topic. Both communication and research are integral parts of Public Policy Analysis, and with them, technology will always play an important role in this job. Therefore, Public Policy Analysts will always be clamoring for better and better technology they can use to perform their job to their maximum potential. As this technology becomes available, it will change the landscape of Public Policy Analysts forever. Even without counting these steady societal shifts, there is still rapid and varied change that is constantly taking place in all forms of government work.
