Mr. Potato Head was chosen as he can be used as a visual, age appropriate, educationally toy and can provide extra processing time for Timmy as he manipulates it. When items are passed between the IT and himself he will be reminded that communication includes others. He loves watching Toy Story movies and often plays with the toy characters from the movie such as Woodie and Mr. Potato Head. Since Timmy’s dad is a police officer, we decided to use a police Mr. Potato Head to motivate and maintain Tim’s interest. The Book, The Psychopath Test, by Jon Ronson is about Jon Ronson trying to learn and discover the inside and out of a psychopath. Jon is a journalist who is drawn into the world of psychopathy through a mysterious book that was delivered by an anonymous person to many different types of people. This prompts Jon to look deeper and he comes out thinking that the person who wrote this book is a psychopath. As his story matures he comes across a man named David Shayler. David has been categorized as a psychopath, but not a dangerous one. This allows him to live in the sane world. David shows an enormous amount of passion towards what he is pursuing or trying to get people to believe, but what he is trying so hard for people to believe is not often taken as truth. He is first thought to be a completely normal, great man but later found to actually be a psychopath. The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry is a book by Jon Ronson, where he investigates the idea of psychopathy and the many individuals involved. Psychopathy is defined as “a person who is mentally ill, who does not care about other people, and who is usually dangerous or violent.” Ronson visited mental health professionals and psychopaths in order to determine the right way to control the diagnosis of mental health disorders. Throughout the novel, Ronson focuses on three main themes, which are the definition of madness, unnecessary mental diagnoses and the problem with confirmation bias.

The entire book is told from the view of Robert D. Hare, PhD., a psychologist and researcher of psychopathy. Hare decided to write this book to shed light on the many psychopaths that live among all of us from day to day. Hare does this by using evidence from case studies, stories told to him, and the private meetings he had with the psychopaths that he has met along the way. Hare’s account was an excellent read because he was very modest, even admitting to being fooled by some of the psychopaths he encountered, which made him seem more like a real person. The mind of a psychopath is still far from being explained, however Hare feels the best way to figure out a psychopath operates is to stop them before they are able to cause any damage. Doing so, victims would not be harmed; mentally and physically, saving tax payers money due to court costs, rehabilitation and parole programs that simply don’t work.
In terms of psychology McCandless was not crazy as many people thought he will be. Psychologically speaking based on Maslow pyramid of needs, Chris was able to reach self-actualization which is a concept that not many people get to fully experience. Such need is to fulfill one’s unique potential. Thinking about it’s actually hard to met this concept when you have society right on your ears. Chris’s accomplishment of getting out of society's materialistic ideals and going into a state of nature made his life worth even more. In my psychology class, I came across with the term mentioned above and with the peak experience which roots from Self-actualization. After reviewing all of theories of personalities throughout this course, I have found Freud’s Psychoanalytic Theory to be my favorite theory of personality because it focuses on the three component parts of the mind: the id, ego and superego. This “structural theory” of personality places great importance on how conflicts among the parts of the mind shape behavior and personality. These conflicts are mostly unconscious. Romans 12:2 new living translation version states, “Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” This scripture is relevant because the mind needs to be renewed.

Before McMurphy came to the mental ward, it was a place filled with strict rules and orders that patients had to follow; these rules were created by the head nurse, Nurse Ratched. Mental disorders are a common condition that many people and families have to live with and go through in their lifetime. The disorders are more common than one may think, and in fact they are all around us we just may not know. In the 1993 film “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”, the movie stars Johnny Depp who takes the role of a small-town man, Gilbert Grape, who takes care of his fatherless family of five. When Ronson wraps up his work in The Psychopath Test, a novel, he creates a theme of paranoia as he ventured into an industry of madness. He establishes his work’s meaning that any individual may appear normal, abnormal, or be a psychopath within. In other words, his theme follows the idea that life can be full of deceiving people. In order to convey his theme, he used four significant characters. They include himself as the narrator, David Shayler with Rachel North, and Robert Hare. These characters not only emphasize Ronson’s theme, but also help establish the purpose of his theme, which is to showcase that madness can be anywhere.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a well-known book about an eccentric candy maker living in his own mystical world that has been made into two popular movies. Wonka is a character that is two things at once; unflappable and socially anxious, overly friendly but also untrustworthy and isolated, altruistic and sadistic, hopeful and cynical, grandiose and fragile (Pincus, 2006). While Willy Wonka may be a fictional character, he does display the very real disorder Schizotypal Personality Disorder or SPD. Schizotypal Personality Disorder is a personality disorder that affects approximately 3.9% of the American population and is similar to Schizophrenia but without delusions or hallucinations (Pulay et al., 2009). While little is known about the causes of Schizotypal Personality Disorder, it is becoming a significant personality disorder that warrants an understanding of what is currently known about the disorder and treatments available to individuals living with SPD.
