Proposal for Network Upgrades

841 Words2 Pages

Summary
It has been exciting to work with you as your company expands and to be a part of it. You have requested an upgrade to your existing network that will allow you to better manage and share data throughout your office. We have plenty of experience performing upgrades like this, and would like to present this proposal for your consideration.
Analysis
While installing the network drive, we noticed a few areas where your network could be strengthened. We noted that the network is connected in a physical bus topology/configuration, where each computer is connected to the central trunk. Bus topology is a decent setup for very small networks, but for your growing company, we would suggest a more sophisticated interconnection. A different configuration would ensure that if there were a problem with one of those connections, your full network would remain operational. We can reconfigure the connections into either a star or partial mesh topology. While we are making these connections, we can upgrade your wiring to support a faster data transfer speeds. Your current wiring consists of category 3 (cat 3) Ethernet wire. This wiring limits the transmission speed of data to 10 megabits per second (Mbps). We can upgrade your cat 3 wiring to a wire that will allow much faster data speeds: 100Mbps, 1 gigabit per second (Gbps), or 10Gbps depending on the hardware your systems have. Additionally, we can install wireless access points, which would allow you to connect to your network from any wireless capable device. We will evaluate the layout of your building to provide the best wireless coverage possible throughout.
