This will help you to become a better writer. There are many important steps to the proof-reading process. Once you have finished writing your paper you will want to put it aside for a few hours or a day. Then you can go back and take a fresh look at the paper to look for an any errors that you may have missed. Find
Recently, I have been writing quite a few essays and papers throughout my college experience. This entails, but not limited to, English, History, and Economics. My style of writing and methods have generally remained the same throughout the process. In this assignment, I will be discussing how I prepare to start a paper, what my thoughts are through the process, and my strengths and weaknesses of what my final drafts look like.
I had missed quite a few mistakes that I would never have thought of. Once I got my paper back I made revisions. ...
According to Donald M. Murray in The Makers Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts “A piece of writing is never finished”. Before this class, I didn’t really revise my essays
Writing can be a very difficult process for those who do not know how to go about constructing
Since my schooling began at a young age, a lack of attention has always been my downfall. I quickly become discouraged, and uninterested; when faced with criticism ,or a lack of positive feedback. The errors in my paper exist for many reasons, my lack of attention being the most important. I do not feel a book or online resource will be a sufficient tool to help me better my writing. Sadly, this is not the way I learn or retain information.
In spite of the fact my thesis was strong, there was a comma splice so it needed restructured. My paper also lacked strong transitions that would help keep readers engaged in the reading. Another error in my research paper was the use of second person. Second person should only be used in research papers if it is in the form of a question which is also a good way to keep readers engaged. The last mistake that occurred several times in my paper was the format of in text citations.
My final research paper for English class was about heroin. I believe I did very well for a 7 page paper and proved I have excelled since the beginning of the course. On the other hand, I did make some mistakes in it as well. I made a few errors in this paper such as, wrong format for the works cited page, format for in-text citations, development of thesis, and use of in-text citations.

I have been working very hard on my reflection papers. I always write my papers in advance and get help from writing center. Although I visit writing center and get my papers checked, mistakes are found in my papers. I don't know what else can I do to avoid those mistakes and get better grades on my papers in future. Once I feel comfortable submitting my assignment, off it goes. On several occasions, I have felt a lack of confidence in sending my paper. There are times when I think of things I could have added or written differently after. Overall, I know I have learned a lot from writing these papers and doing all the research that comes with it. I have a lot to learn on writing papers, but that will become easier the more I write. I will learn what little changes I can change to make writing easier for me.
This class, however, has shown me that proofreading is a skill I have yet to master. I often correct the mistakes in my paper in my head while I read them and do not even notice it, so this class has allowed me to see this flaw and learn to slow down and take my time while I am proofreading. This flaw has, however, been decreased greatly due to the various drafts required for each paper. These drafts allow me to proofread over the material mutiple times so that I can catch these little mistakes I make.
From the results collected from survey questionnaires, both teachers and students regarded error correction as an effective technique to improve students’ writing skill as well as limit their grammatical errors. Most of them appreciate the important role of error correction in learning writing. When the respondents were required to choose the most useful way to improve students’ writing proficiency, both of them chose teacher correction and peer correction as the most efficient methods. Students recognized the value of teacher correction, which its percentage made up the highest rate as opposed to the remaining error correction techniques, namely self-correction, peer correction and remedial work. Besides, a large number of the mentioned participants
I learned the importance of making several drafts for one paper. Every writer can always make improvements because a paper is never perfect on the first draft. At least three drafts should be made before submitting. Secondly, it is important for ideas to be organized. One idea should smoothly transition into the next for the reader to easily understand the author’s arguments. Thirdly, it is helpful to have others give corrections on the student’s paper. Asking the professor or peers for critiques allows to see possible errors and ways to make the paper
While writing is an extension of speaking it is not simply speech written on paper. Most people learn to talk or communicate in some form, however not everybody learns to read and write. Writing requires regular practice and is generally more formal than speaking. Spelling is writings form of pronunciation and is very critical when expressing meaning and ideas. Many words have silent letters which are evident in writing but not heard when spoken, furthermore throughout the English language there is numerous words known as ‘Homophones’ words that have the same sound but are spelt differently and have separate meanings. [Grellies & Goerke]. While speakers use pauses and intonation correct grammar and punctuation is necessary and can often be the difference between good or poorly written work. Written work needs to be considerate of the reader. Writing needs to be clear and concise, consider what is essential for an audience to know about a given topic the reader shouldn’t need to add additional details to understand what is being
I have always been commended for my strong writing skills, particularly my ability to self-edit and alter my language and tone for various audiences. I actually enjoy editing and proof-reading content, and am often the person my classmates, colleagues or friends come to when they need a second set of eyes. I like to say that I have a lifelong commitment to good grammar and believe my careful proofreading skills and attention to detail are part of what makes my writing so strong. I use these skills in any writing context, be it for print or the web, and never rely on (or trust) spellcheck to do the work for me.
