COMPARISON ESSAY Intro: Cinderella’s childhood reflected her step-sisters’ treatment towards her. Due to her being left out of most activities and being neglected by her step mother, father, and step sisters, she was alone and unable to live her life how she wanted. In Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts portrayed a character who treated herself lowly as a hooker. The portrayal of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and Cinderella in the “glass slipper” shows them neglecting their self worth which eventually results in them self confidence. Body #1: SUMMARY : Cinderella’s POV & VIVIAN POV In Cinderella’s the “glass slipper” it is evident that cinderella was treated as a slave. Her step sisters would not treat her like she was worthy, or a human, as they made remarks of her appearance “It would make the people laugh to see a cinderwench at a ball” (citation?). Ultimately she was unable to go to the ball alongside her step-sisters where she would have been looked down upon. However, her godmother, the only person who found potential in her, gave her the opportunity to go to the ball. The godmother provided her the rich clothes and jewels to make her feel as if she were a princess. She did not attend school, she only completed up to 11th grade. After her meet up with Edward, a rich man who found potential in Vivian, he gave her an opportunity to grow and advance from her low view on herself and treated her as a person rather than a prostitute. She was treated with more respect when going shopping with Edward than when she wore her hooker clothing. She learned how to use different forks at dinner. She developed many new skills from before. In the end, she finally had a new outlook to her life and decided to proceed with her studies as she was more than a hooker and had much more
