Why is prayer necessary when things never go your way?

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28 is critical to understanding or answering my question. Why is prayer necessary when things aren't going your way? The biblical passage depicts that we should keep faith in God because God works for those who love him. When we pout and do not pray when things are not going our way God will not listen (Romans 8:28). We must still pray and have faith when the times are tough in life. God works for those who love him. That is why it is necessary to pray during these hard times in life because he works for those who pray. One might want to give up on prayer due to the fact that it is not working in ones life. Every thought or feeling is a valid enters into a prayer, anything you say while praying is important because when we pray we are closer to God (Kang). When certain things do not go your way in life we can question why to have faith in our God. Just as shown in the quote what do we do when our prayers are not answered by God (Kang). The author writes that we must continue to say I love you to God, just as married couples do the same in a long relationship. When we pray to god each time whether we are happy or said is like saying I love you to him (Kang). We must continue to pray everyday in our lives to be closer to God (Kang). At times when things do not go our way in life we can not abandon our faith. As a human race we must stay the course when it comes to prayer and loving God.
